Hello all,

I took my wife's TSI for the DSG recall and while driving back home I realized the left buttons on the MFSW (telephone, radio, etc) were not working anymore. I installed a Zenec multi-media/nav system and before the VW guys had the car everything was working perfectly. Now there is not even the nav directions on the MFD anymore.

According to them, they just disconnected the battery and then performed a new adaptation on the gearbox control module.

The diagnostic scan does not show anything weird, apart from the two usual DTCs in the Gateway because the stock radio and the stock nav are not installed.

Has anybody come across this problem before??

When I disconnect my battery my aftermarket headunit reverts back to factory settings. The steering wheel buttons and the MDI display work via the canbus interface either in your headunit, or on a box clicked into the loom of the headunit.
maybe the headunit settings need resetting, or the canbus unit is shot.
There are 3 power wires that run the radio, a red one ( which I think is the permanent power supply ) this stays powered all the time so to keep the settings in the headunit. A yellow wire that comes from the canbus system, this signals when the ignition is turned on to accessories , first position, and turns the radio off when the keys are removed. Look in the manual of the headunit to see if you have to tell it what varient of car it is installed to, or ring the original installers for advice. Hope you get it sorted.
