Hi everyone,
This is my first post. Ive got a 1.9tdi sline 115 bhp 2006. Just had an mot today which passed but has an advisory of a slight flywheel rattle. Just wondering if I should be worried about this as I have heard this is expensive and you have to have a new clutch along with it. Wi driving it like this do any serious damage. Any info would be great thanks

Slight rattle? It could last 6 months or 6 miles. They don't give much warning and cost the wrong side of a grand to replace. Some people might offer to do a cheap SMF conversion for you but it's not a good idea on a modern car.

Thanks for your reply mate. Yeah that's what they say on the invoice . Think I'll ring them tomorrow and see what they say as I haven't heard it myself. Clutch seems fine no juddering or slipping. If the dmf goes could it damage anything else? Love the car it drives like a dream. Don't want to wreck it!

If the DMF goes you'll need RAC, Green Flag or similar. It shouldn't do much damage to anything except your wallet

why is an mot tester advising a flywheel rattle. ? it has absolutely nothing to do with an mot test whatsoever. if you are concerned then i would get a second opinion from someone more suitably experienced before getting any work done.

I have breakdown cover so I think I'll turn to grin and bear it see how it goes. I had it in for a service as well Zollaf so whether they've just heard it and our it down. They are an indeoendent German specialist garage and have a good rep locally but I will get a second opinion thanks
