Week 8 in the "I don't have a built slot house"
And it ain't looking like it'll be anytime soon! Sorry to be a broken record, but is anyone else still in the dark?
Ordered June 3rd.

Have you gone for anything like exclusive paint/leather or ceramics?
Other than that I don't know what the problem can be. Had my build week within a couple of weeks of ordering.

I ordered around 20th June and have been told that I won't get a build week until approx 8 weeks before it is due to be built. Estimate is sometime in January.... Seems like a long time to wait to be honest.

Seems like they can't make the a6 quick enough. No wonder BMW are worried.

Could be connected with the impending facelift. Maybe that certain options (which are due to changes part of the facelift) are not being ordered for production leading tp delays. Autocar is predicting the facelift S6 will be at the Paris show in October so the A6 will need to be announced then or maybe earlier (Moscow show is late August but politics may intervene with that!)

I'd be pretty annoyed if I ended up with a "new" A6 6 months after the release of a facelift! Is it possible to sit down with the dealer and look at existing Audi uk stock after you've placed an order? Might not be exactly the spec you want, but probably close. There were quite a few in stock when I picked mine out. I wasn't even aware of the long delays on factory orders until after, (in fact, I found out when I joined here), I just wanted mine pretty much straight away.
I only decided to look at an A6 4 weeks ago and I've been driving mine a week and a half already

Ordered mine mid May, picked it up end of June.

The only potentially odd option I've ordered is the Air Suspension, other than that it's pretty straight forward. I wondered about the facelift side of things and to be honest, if I take delivery of a pre facelift car post facelift release I'll not be happy, at the end of the day it's £56k of my hard earned so i would expect the dealer to be upfront with me... Or am I being naive?

If your car isn't due until January pics of the facelift will be everywhere I suspect, even if the car isn't on the roads. I'd be asking them to check uk stock, there might be one with air suspension available now. It might also have one or two other small extras on that ideall you don't want, hence them placing a factory order, but got to be better than waiting. I asked then to find the closest stock car to my spec and tell me what all the options were that were already on it.

Apparently the facelift will be minor. Here is a picture of the front. Straighter lines on the headlights but does not look loaf's different. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/30/ehyte6y6.jpg

I actually prefer the current front.
There is no way you should be waiting until January for a car ordered in early June. Air suspension is standard on models like the RS6 and allroad, so I doubt that would cause any delay. I ordered mid June, had a build week of 38 confirmed by early July and should expect the car hopefully some time in October.
You not having a build date by now sounds very strange to me.

That is my concern chesterfield. Methinks a few probing questions to the dealer may be in order.
The only extras to the black edition was a reversing camera and sline sports suspension.

That's a good photo and sure ultimately it will be pretty similar, but that is the facelift A7 not A6. When you google it and find the image there is a link to the full photo set.

The other factor is stock allocation. It may be that the dealer you dealing with has already used all of his allocated build slots and needs to wait for the next block to released before he can place your order (the release of the next block may being delayed due to the facelift). As suggested it would worth exploring the option of looking at stock that is already in the system, either built or frozen spec if the spec is close enough, or one where the spec can be modified. He may need to some horse trading with the dealer that "owns" the slot, perhaps he has a car or slot for another model that dealer would like.
Once Audi has decided not he date for the building of the facelift cars I am pretty sure that they stop building the old model from that date so if your build date is after the cut off then you get the new spec whether you want it or not

The dealer did mention that they had used their allocated build slots and are waiting for next allocation, not sure if I would like a facelift car.
Like others I quite like the car I looked at.

I placed my order on the 8th July and on the 14th July I received a build week 36 slot. Delivery estimated late Sept or early Oct.
It's certainly worth chatting to your dealer for some more info, at the end of the day your a spending your hard earned with them so something a little more concrete would be good.

I'd say less probing and more "direct".
There are examples of customers that have ordered after you and had their build dates weeks ago. So whats the hold up with yours.
I'd quiz another local dealer and see what they say, if they smell blood in the water and think there is a chance of poaching an order, they will get the answers for you if your current dealer is evasive.

Don't think the dealer is being evasive, he has already said he has used all of his current build slots and waiting for next allocation

Missed that post (skim reading on mobile).
That would certainly explain it. Given the estimated announcement of the facelift in October, and the usual 12 week lead time, it would not surprise me to see that no new build slots, or very few, were being made available between now and then. Some customers would quite rightly be annoyed at picking up their "brand new" car just a few days after the facelift has been announced.
They may just be using up existing build slots to ensure delivery of the majority of cars before the facelift is announced.
I would find it highly unlikely if not impossible for a customer to order the current version and it arrive as a facelift.

I placed my order on the 8th July and on the 14th July I received a build week 36 slot. Delivery estimated late Sept or early Oct.
Placed my order begining of July, got an estimated delivery date of NOvember, but the dealer was unable to confirm when, it ain't a huge issue for me, I have spec'd quite bit on it so knew it was never going to be from stock.

I placed my order on 31 May ,was informed build date as Mid July and Dely. in Sept.I got a call from the dealer today that the car has arrived in the UK and after thinking it over with the other half decided to wait for the new Sept Reg ,and collection in Early Sept.I dont know what happens to the car between now and early Sept. and where is it stored? The dealer
(Donna at Maidstone) understands ,as the car I think has arrived early, and maybe she has been surprised as well.May be this gives me more time to sell my old car privately as the dealer had agreed a value for it to take it in as part exchange but at less than trade value for a september handover.

"Arrival in the UK" means it is now at one of the ports where Audi cars are offloaded. Felixstowe will be the most likely given you are in the London area. Sods law says that because youa re not in a hurry for the car it will be on the first lorry out of their to the dealer whilst those desperate to get their new car will be frustrated that it is still stuck at the port waiting delivery. Most likely it will sit at the dealer for much of August awaiting preparation. If it does get to the dealer soon t does mean that it may be possible for the car to be prepared at a more leisurely (and thus comprehensive) pace than the frantic late August preparation session when they are trying to prepare a lot of cars for 1st September delivery. If you have the space the dealer might even be interested in getting the car to you before 1st September as long as it sits on your drive/in your garage. Agree you now have a definite timeframe to sell your current car and get more for it. I sold a car a couple of years ago to second hand trader and he gave me more than PX value from the dealer so worth looking at if the car is clean and in good condition. Of course with holidays and the impending plate change August is not the best time to be selling a car

Been informed by my dealer today that build week for mine has moved forward a week to 37 now. He's also advised shipping seems to be quick at the moment with many arriving 4 weeks after build date.

I'm on week 5 without a build slot but concerning to read you're at week 8.
Mine's a bog standard A6 Ultra with no extras added, ordered via fleet. Very frustrating...

I would have thought that was a pretty easy car to get a build week for? What has your dealer had to say about the lack of build week?

You would think so right? It's via a leasing company who say they order directly with Audi via their 'central fleet system' - whatever that means. He reckons mid-Oct but that's just his guess based on previous. Just seems odd not to have a build date.
