Got stranded on Friday evening as immobiliser refused to disengage, usual symptoms, car starts but dies almost immediately as (suspect) fuel pump is depowered. After calling breakdown firm and waiting half an hour I tried it again and it worked so drove home without stopping. Saturday it worked fine but Sunday it refused to play ball and is now stuck on my driveway.
This is not the first time but usually after a number of attempts it works (worst is about 20 tries) but I am sick of it and resolved to remove the immobiliser function and just have the alarm.
Not sure if my car had an alarm/immobiliser as standard as this seems to be an aftermarket item, Laserline 996KB. Saying that the alarm functions off the audi keyfob and the immobiliser armed lamp is the lamp on the dash rather than the LED on the immob key socket, but that may have been spliced in.
Immobiliser key socket is:

The immobiliser is:

So I spent yesterday afternoon pulling off panels and tracing wiring but I am wary to continue without a bit of research.
Lots if non-standard wiring coming from the alarm unit to the main loom:

I have found an installation guide on the web from which it looks fairly straightforward, most of the wiring (yellow and blue wires) appears to be to flash the indicators and beep the siren, as well as sensors on doors and internal ultrasonics.
The guts of it is two stop circuits which are, for security, all black! So the plan is to follow the black wires and see which car systems are interrupted by the immobiliser. Link to manual:
Dropbox - is-996-kit-v2-ing.pdf (https://www.dropbox.com/s/km11oc4dnmz6qvl/is-996-kit-v2-ing.pdf)
So now the question, does anyone have any experience in doing this or shall I just plod on myself? Any ideas what systems may be disabled, the manual says starter and fuel pump but I am sure the starter is not disabled on mine, fuel pump seems likely but not sure what else (car is a A4 B5 1.9 TDI AFN Auto)?
I am opening myself to a world of pain?
Any hints or tips are welcome, I know that getting in a mobile auto electrician is probably the simplest/best solution but they dont seem to exist over here and the thought of getting it transported (£200) and then fixed by a pro (£100 ph) is not an option. Also I spend my daytime designing landing systems for airports so refuse to be beaten by this!
Working conditions are crap though, lying in the footwell of the car tracing wiring which has been designed by MC Escher and then cut too short, aarrrggghhh!
Cheers
Stuart
