Having had a flat battery this morning and had the thing on charge during the day I would like to rant about battery placement in a b6.
What part decided to put the bloody big heavy battery in the middle of the car under the wipers.
Then who put the loom encased in sponge across the bulkhead with 'DO NOT BEND' sticker that you can't see unless you bend the bloody thing.
The battery clamp is a work of art, you can't reach it unless you have a long Allen key then you should just loosen a slide the top part of the clamp back to allow the battery to release... But you need both hands to lift the heavy battery out.
I ended up sat on the engine (cold) and bent double to manoeuvre the battery out....
German engineering, don't you just love it..

I agree that it is an awkward brute to lift out.

I turned my key this morning to find the dash half lit and most things flickering on and off throughout the car - also the central locking was only half working

Guess the first cold snap of winter combined with driving only twice in the last month finally killed the battery

Left it charging all day but no dice

So it looks like I have the joy of lifting this 24kg lump out of an impossible space

I am wondering if taking the bonnet off may help

First job is to try and identify the replacement unit as no one seems to have the S4 4.2 on their listings

Was hoping it would be a 10 minute job but this thread confirms I am very wrong
