Hi to all,

looking at treating my self to an Audi a6 3.0 tdi Quattro estate. Roughly an 06-08 depending what's around then. With about 120k on the clock. With full service history. About k7 spending give or take at the time.

I have done some research on common faults for these vehicle, please correct if I am wrong or missed some due to the fact I only found 2 including the rear washer jet hose split or cracks causing water on to some very expensive electrical components and with the front cup holders for spillage due to more expensive electrical components. Please correct if I am wrong if incorrect facts there.

Also can I have peoples input on manuals or autos with sports drive and flappy paddle box (unsure of tech name sorry) pros and cons with them. Or issue to watch out for.

Looked through this forum and could mind much on the mpg roughly expected, I might be wrong. Please correct if I am wrong.

Thought I'd do my home work before I went to test drive and hopefully buy one. Get advice from the people that own and know the cars first.

Any advice or pointers would be great.

Welcome to VWAF

Ideally anything 07 plate onwards is a good start, have a look through the 'new owner' threads in this section and you'll find posts which people have advised.

Manuals DMFs and clutches will fail and will need replacing, the 3.0 doesn't really suit manual (imo) as I drove a manual and an auto (tiptronic on quattro autos) and preferred the auto as the gear ratios were a bit too short on the manual.

MPG again look through the forum, I'm getting 18-23mpg around town and anything from 33-36mpg on a mmotorway run over 50 miles. I've seen 44mpg but that was pretty boring.

Thanks,

ok I'll bare that in mind 07 onwards. Ok I'll have a dig through them and see what I can find.

Ok ok ill stick with an auto then.

Ok that's not bad mpg for a 3L,

also another question is the much difference between the Quattro 3L and a 2L s line is the specs the same ect, bar the obv fact 4 whee, and 2 wheel drive.

Depends on the trim level, there are old brochures on Audi's site showing the differences in SE/S-Line/Le Mans trim levels.
