went to look at an A4 avant 57 plate, yesterday, very nice, my mate noticed wheels had been repainted, and i did see a receipt for this in the history, he was worried they might start to `break down` again?

Who were they painted by? A reputable refurb company?

Wouldn't worry about it. All wheels will corrode eventually. You can always get them refurbed at some point.
I'd be more concerned about the condition of the actual car.
