So my dash just started flashing 'brake pads' at me.
I haven't had a look yet to see how worn the discs are but I may just put new brakes on all round.
I have an invoice at 49,400 miles for new rear discs and pads, but I don't have anything for the front. Car is just coming up to 80,000 miles now.
What should I be looking at, Pagid? Can anyone recommend brakes/pads and a good price/supplier?
Thanks guys!

Do a search!
I fitted Ferodo Premier pads and Apec discs to mine and have had no issues, everyone has their own preference.

Oooh.... thanks, Chris!
Will have a look. Sorry haven't had time to search - just thought I'd put a thread up and someone would help! And you have!

Well, I can get Pagid all round discs and pads for £160 delivered from car parts for less. That's using the code sticker to determine brake code.
Will check brake sizes tonight to be certain. Will get a friend of mine to fit for cash so hopefully can get them all done for £250 tops! Might get him to do a brake fluid change whilst he's at it.

all round discs and pads
By this you mean you will also be doing the rear discs and pads?

If they need doing, then yes. I've had a look and I think they're OK, probably just fronts needed.
I appreciate that you need VAGCOM or similar due to the parking brake, and I also understand it's a pig of a job on the Quattro.

Toff used his own method of winding back motor's Link:- Pads need replacing - would anybody recommend Pagid? - Page 6 (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?141085-Pads-need-replacing-would-anybody-recommend-Pagid&p=795822#post795822)
When I researched doing my rear brakes it seemed without VCDS or electronic wind back tool you could end up in strife using any other method.
Yep on quattro I found it a ball ache doing with standard tools and jack as disc never slipped past brake calliper bracket.
Still never seen any info from a real mechanic on what they use if they don't have the VAG dedicated tools for rear disc change?

I've sussed that my brakes are 1KD (rear) and 1LG (front).
My friend has the Snap-On plug in thing for the electronic parking brake, and is confident that he has the tools needed at work.
However, the rears were changed at 49k (I presume these were the originals), and have only done 30k since and look pretty good so I think I may have another 15-20k in them.
Hopefully just the fronts needed!

I've had brembo pads and discs (vented) done on the front. Rears are going to be done in the next week or two along with brake fluid change. So far the fronts have been fantastic.

Looks like I need fronts only at the moment.
Question is - £106 for Paid or £160 for Brembo?!

I was told when buying my Ferodos that the Brembo's squeal alot.

I've had no squealing so far, but only been fitted about 100 miles! I guess the trick is not to forget the ceratec. You could also chamfer the edges - people have had some success with this method too, others have used 3m brake shims. If mine do squeek I'll be using the 3m stuff.
