Today ,

loss of parking sensors

put car in reverse, and there was long beep for a few seconds and the diode in the "P" switch started flashing , the graphic image of the car did not show up in the colour mmi screen and the sensors do not work.

All sensors in bumpers front and back are clean.

i have reset the MMI system , and this has not solved the problem.

Any one encounter this before ?

dead sensor possibly, or dead control unit. get a scan done, easiest way of solving it.

Cheers chris ,thought a scan would be the case, will have to go to a garage and get a scan done ,

Btw , just pulled the fuse , fuse ok , put fuse back in pressed "P" button graphic display cAme up , but no sound when walking close to. Bumpers !

Pressed "P" button to cancel parking system , then pressed "P" again , no display this time and diode flashing in "P" button

Hi chris ,

just parked car up for the night , and the sensors and graphic display are now fully working , when reversing car

Also manually turned the sensors off and on a few times when car was stationary , senses and display still working

Dont get how it can suddenly start working again ?

I do wonder if some contacts have got bad conductivity & got a little damp, needs a scan to show historical faults as it may present again.

Hi Q7, I had an intermittent sensor problem on my A6 Avant that presented similarly. I read somewhere on here that if you listen to the sensors they emit a click when they are working. I was able to identify the failed one and bought a replacement on eBay for £20 or so. I've not fitted it yet as the problem had cured itself since the weather improved.

What I can't remember is the safe way to put the car in reverse so as to listen. I think I put the car in reverse and switched off the engine leaving the ignition on.

If in doubt get a scan done.
