Service Insp Light

hi, i am new to this forum, as a matter of fact i am new to forums all together. but, i have an 1999 audi a4 quattro, and the service inspection light is on. i was wondering how do i turn that off, and what exactly does it mean? if someone could give me an answer, it would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest your car needs a service. To turn it off you would have to reset the service level indicator
