Hi Everyone,

Just had a look through some of the forums and im delighted with what i see. Ive recently aquired a 2005 A6 C6 2.0tdi. She's lovely and all but im a little concerned its going to be an expensive relationship.

Ill start at the top and hopefully you guys can shed some light on what you think.

1. Vibration on clutch pedal. Noise when depressing clutch.
2. Engine Judder at idle and under braking. Judders when turning off engine!
3. Cant get the air temp right. Its either cold or ROOOOAAASTING!!!!
4. Demister only clears drivers side.
5. MMI wont turn off via volume dial.
6. Yellow engine managment light recently came on.

All else seems fine. The brakes have plenty of meat on them. The turbo sounds fine. Its returning about 1,000 km per full tank.

Its going in for a new clutch and fly wheel tomorrow, that should sort item 1 at least, maybe item 2 aswell (Here's hoping). Im assuming that there is pulley issue, hence issue 2,3 and 4??? Issue 5 is a new switch? Ill know tomorrow what the engine light is on for.

Any help on this would be great. I just dont want the mechanic coming back with something stupid (Expensive).

Thanks,

shaynoh.

Welcome to VWAF

New clutch and flywheel will sort 1&2, these fail/judder more than you think and are a weak spot on all modern cars.

3 & 4 - which aircon system is fitted? Manual or digital? 4 can be solved by using VCDS (search for this) to re-align the heater flaps as one or more may have become stuck hence the lack of air flow.

5 - could be the button itself, are you just giving it a short swift press or holding it in?

6 - could be anything, fault scan needed.

Hey Chris,

Thanks for replying. The aircon is the manual type. As for the power button for the radio? Im pressing? Im holding? I think its just faulty. Ill know more about the fault code tomorrow, i hope its nothing too serious..... Famous last words. ha ha.

I just have another one for you. The clutch pulley isnt freewheeling? Its also being fixed tomorrow. But do you know what it effects?

Thanks,

Shaynoh.

Hi,

Just got a call from the brother in law as he dropped the car to the mechanic. An oil pressure warning came up when he got to the mechanic. The mechanic then called to say that there needs to be some serious work done to identify whats wrong. He then said that he would have to take the sump off to have a look. I am doubting myself now. Any ideas as to what it could be or indeed how much it would cost to fix?

If your engine code is BRE or BLB then it could possibly be the dreaded oil pump balance shaft assembly which has gone wrong and yes, its serious work.

Hi,

Seems like im not pretty enough for attention on here. Not feeling the lurve anymore. Aaaaaaanyway, the balance shaft needs replacing. The oil pump balance shaft has had a repair done to get me more time to raise the cash for the repair. There appears to be a servo flap thats needs to be replaced also. So.......... any ideas??

The clutch has been replaced. So yippee for that.
