Hello everyone, I hope someone can help me with this question:

I have a 2005 Audi Allroad 2.5 TDI whose radiator is clogged. I took it to a radiator company here in Guatemala and they tried to clean it, but they were unable to do it as it seems the deposits inside of the radiator became solid as rock. So now I am looking for a radiator for my car, problem is only two Allroad 2.5 TDIs came to Guatemala, so there are no radiators for it, and the 2.5 TDI version wasn't sold in the US, so I would have to buy a new radiator from Europe and the shipping cost is excessive! Since my sister lives in France I searched a french site called oscaro.com and there was a radiator that fitted both the 2.5 TDI and the 2.7L version that went to the US, but the brand is only sold in Europe. However, if a radiator fitted both versions, I guess there should be a radiator I can find in the US that will fit my car.

My car has the radiator part #4B0121251AH, hopefully you can help me find a radiator that fits both the 2.5 TDI and 2.7L which is available in the US, as the shipping cost from the US to Guatemala will be much lower than from Europe.

Thank you!!!

Hey Sanchez

Not sure what the rules are, but there are very few American posters on this forum, most stateside tend to use local forums, so it may well be worthwhile either joining or posting here:

C6 A6/S6/RS6 (http://www.audizine.com/forum/forumdisplay.php/195-C6-A6-S6-RS6?)

Here:

C6 platform | Audi Forum (http://audiforum.us/forums/c6-platform.27/)

or here:

Audi A6 - AudiForums.com (http://www.audiforums.com/forum/audi-a6-9/)

Google CAN be your friend! :biglaugh:

Apologies to Mods if I've broken any rules, but the poster may not get the best advice on here in order to minimise his costs. :)

Good luck Sanchez!

Hello MarkTM, I know that, I'm asking on this UK forum because you have BOTH versions of the Allroad in your country, so if there is a radiator other than the 4B0121251AH that I could use I guess someone in the UK will be able to tell me which radiator to look for, and luckily that radiator will be available in the US. So before going searching in a US forum I would greatly appreciate the help from this UK forum in telling me if there is a radiator for another Audi / VW that would fit my 2005 Allroad 2.5 TDI.

Apologies US Audi dealers don't recognise the part number or say no stock? I had to order an American only part for my Jag and they did a special order for me, although not a heavy part like a Rad.

How did the place try and unclog the radiator (flushing and rodding) and how does the blocked rad manifest itself....am assuming overheating?

Hello MartTM, thanks again for your reply. I'm sorry for my bad English, I understand the plage tried unclogging the radiator by removing the plastic deposits from the sides and then inserting some sort of metal ruler (is that rodding?). I understand they also used some type of acid but don't know which acid. One week before taking the car to the radiator place, I tried a radiator formula from Liqui Moly then flushing it but it didn't work.

Here are some pictures sent by the radiator place:

First picture is part of what they took out from the radiator deposit:

They also sent these 2 pictures, according to them they can't clean it.

As you said, the clogging manifested itself by overheating. I had previously changed the thermostat hoping that would solve the problem.

Thank you

In the end I bought a radiator for another Audi which will be modified by a radiator manufacturer here.

I would check the plastic impeller on the water pump as well, had a few that manifested by overheating and the water pump was the last thing that we changed ! They were genuine parts as well and they failed soon after the 2 year warranty finished ! I since then fit good quality water pumps from KWP or Airtex...genuine pumps only if asked specifically !
