Does anyone know whether pre facelift wings, bonnet & boot lid will fit a facelift B5 with no bother?

Slightly odd question in that others seem to want to go the other way. IE fit facelift panels to a pre-facelift car. From what I can remember the answer for the front end is yes, but you might have to fit PF headlights and indicators,I think the front bumper is also slightly different (fog light mounting). With a bit of moddong I'm sure facelift 'one piece' headlight units can be used, some of these incoperate fog lights(SE cars). The bootlid I have no idea about, I seem to remember being told that the facelift saloons had different rear lights, so perhaps not.

I'm sure someone else will comment on this, out of interest why do you want to fit older PF bits onto a facelift model?

the boot lid would fit but you will have issues with the locking side. I know when I looked at fitting a FL tailgate to my old PFL avant the wiring was different and the PFL uses a mechanical operated opening rather than an electrical button.

My facelift saloon received a replacement rear light cluster at some point in the past, but whoever fitted it put in the prefacelift version. I therefore have mismatching lights on the rear. The prefacelift light fits the facelift hole so I presume the opposite is true. While it fits, the lights (brake and reversing) if I recall, are in different position on the light cluster, so I needed to change to coloured bulbs in the right places to make it legal.

Hope that is of some help...

Thanks guys that's a great help as it happens. I am wanting to replace a few things as my FL has rusted wings/arches, rusted bonnet around the audi grille and a rust patch coming through the passenger front door. Unfortunately the salt on the roads have done this over the winter and there is a PFL donor car locally I might get to replace parts. I hate the idea of changing FL parts with those from a PFL but its just convenient at the moment.
