I was thinking of going to main dealers, other then the price and the free car wash they give when using there service is there any difference?
Where does everyone else go? or any recommendation please ? I'm based in East London need to book it in anytime soon

If done at dealer you will get a 2yr warranty and if it goes they will foot the bill..(allegedly)
Indies are much cheaper and provide a better service..(£280)
Every time I use to go to dealers the first question which use to get on my wick was
"is it a company car"
ie..
How much can we fleece you ..
Indy every time..
And they wash the car..
CIVS I use based in Cardiff..(bit far for you;))

If you're not worried about the stamp then specialist who use genuine parts would be your best bet.

Chris mate, it would be better to have the book stamped up and it would help in future sale of the car too, but yes I understand what you mean.

Volks Autos (Sutton) Forum sponsor. !0% off when you make first order with them.
Have you had your ATF and filter done? It's every 40k miles for both DSG and Tip boxes now.
Also brake fluid flush is every two years.
VW time served mechanic with VAS -- one year warranty on labour so can sign up your book. You can save a bit more if you get the parts yourself. I got my Tiptronic box and tFSI 2.0L cambelt kit from Blauparts in the US (waterpump VW spares with rebate on old one's return if also genuine VW). Overall, saved £88 using this indie and parts as against dealer price supposidly on "special offer".

Thank you for your reply Richard, Yes I've had a look and they are about 1h away from me after checking there website out.
would I need to sign up regarding the 10% off? how will they be able to tell I'm booking for the first time or not...
Filter and all the rest has been all done ! I need to do cambelt and water pump (I'm thinking doing it as it will be all open
so best to get it all done and ticked off the list)
I take it your talking of VolksAutos here in regards time served?
What this about VWs water pump are plastic and not really the best to use? should I buy a after market one?

I called VW yesterday women didn't have a clue about prices or booking available slots or anything at all that I wanted to know! shocking

Tell them when you first email you're a member of this forum so claiming your 10% as first time customer: lynsey@volksautos.co.uk

Filter and all the rest has been all done !

Just was saying it'd be cheaper to have had both or all three done at the same time. And saved yourself a commute...

Yes, and ensure you have the Serpentine belt and tensioner done too. It was a free (bonus) item when I got my kit from the US
If you've got still the old anti-freeze in (Blue or Green colour) that'd have to be flushed out and re-filled with G12, G12+, or G13 to 33% dilution. If you've got pink colour already, then it'd just need a top up after waterpump done

Yes, Dave is the MasterTech there (ex-a Surry dealership, can't remember name)

An aftermarket one may be cheeepo Chinese, there's many makes around in official looking boxes which also are plastic impeller. Had a look around when I bought and EuroCar Parts and others said theirs were metal impeller, but when I went to collect at depots around here they wern't
When you get your rebate for your old returned VW one, there's only about a fiver price difference overall. Check with Lynsey if you've found a metal impeller one as it's their warranty they're offering on their work. New VW parts are two years

On a Sunday, she's just there for eye candy for passing off-the-street sales. You'd be surprised how many people just wander in an make a purchase as if they're doing their supermarket shop. So she might not be wise to the ways of service department. Although you'd think she'd have a script to follow or at least take your details for a call back. (shrug, I'm retired) :approve:

Using genuine parts at any garage still gives you 2 years warranty if any of the parts fail and the job will be rectified at main dealer free of charge. At least thats what a TPS rep told me the other day.

Just got off the phone to VW and I am laughing my head off !! Just found pricing for ...#

Cambelt & Water Pump £519.99
Brake fluid flush and refilled £179.99
Transmission fluid £69.99

Sub total of £769.99 booking available from Wednesday this week and the guy really pushed me to book it and wasn't taking no for a answer !

Please tell me the dealer took "No!" for an answer from you eventually?
How much did Lynsey quote?

Doesn't look like dealer quoted for changing ATF filter at that price. You got DSG or Tiptronic?
If Tip the plug has to be changed too as it's a one-time use only item (copper crush washer)
