Hello people...

Recently got an A6 sport 52 plate and put a few niggly problems to bed.

Now I have a new problem and really could do with some help and advice.

Went out in the car yesterday and when I went to get out of the drivers door the door would not open. Tried from both inside and outside with no joy, tried locking car with key and central locking still not working. Read somewhere that the deadlock sticks so tried to hit around the area while opening handles etc and still not working.

Decided door panel had to come off so managed to pry away at top with small damage. All mechanisms working on both handles and neither had come off. Had to then smash the lock in half to open car door, removed window section and old broken lock.

Went to scrap yard and got second hand lock. At this point I suspected it was just the lock that was at fault as it was full of rust etc... Fitted new lock and window back etc, door opens and closes fine. Fired central locking and now car wont bloody open again. Door card still out etc.

I suspect its the wiring that is firing the lock and not un firing it. All sounds like it is working but can't be. When I press the unlock button I get a double click as if something is not working. All other doors working fine.

Is there a way to link out the dead lock part of the door or bypass it?

Don't want to have to smash another lock to get the door open to inspect the wiring loom.

Any advice appreciated had a very frustrating day!

Regards.

Steve.

Had Vag com on today and the codes are: 01562 - right rear door 59-00 can't unlock. 001562 - right rear door 61-00 won't de-safe.

Not sure if that puts any light on the situation?

I am suspecting a broken wire in the door but can't open it to find out.

Strange enough mine has had these codes intermittent on both rears, but always worked fine so far. Recently replaced one lock since car was no longer seing door open, but other still remains mystery. It's possible your second hand lock might have same issue as the one you replaced.

It could be I am that unlucky but I suspect its a broken cable. The lock worked fine until it dead locked with the key.

I had this problem with the passenger door, it was the wiring block in the door pillar. You might be able to get at it under the dash board by taking off the trim around that area (drivers side in your case) all I can suggest is when you locate the wires give it a push or wiggle it while someone tries to unlock it with the fob, it worked for me, the block had corrosion so I give it a good clean with WD40 and It been 18 months now without a problem. Best O luck.
