Only had it 2 months but thought I'd share my new (to me) A6. This is my daily commuter and we also have a B7 RS4 for fun at the weekends but have to say I'm liking the A6.
So far I have:
Refurbed the wheels (mobile service).
Wrapped all the chrome in Matt Black 3M film (did it myself).
Replaced the intake manifolds for reinforced ones from Ebay (£415) as had the manifold problem (did it myself).
Drilled the rear lights to fix condensation.
Next is MRC Tuning remap (in May) and H&R Lowering springs (sitting waited to be fitted by me).

Loving it! Are they aftermarket headlights or are they retro fitted oem facelift ones?

That matt wrap looks soooo goooood!
Daytona grey is one of the best colours, IMHO.
Now you need to paint the alloys in shadow chrome to make it spot on! :D

Thanks guys. They are aftermarket xenons fitted by previous owner but they look OEM.
The wrap makes it look much more modern IMO. Only cost about £50 for the film and a few plastic tools.

MRC maps are superb. I may fit milltek and decat too. I'll post up the results in May.

Looks nice, enjoy :)
Are you sure they're aftermarket? They look exactly like the oem facelift headlamps.

I'm just going on what the previous owner said so can't be 100% sure. They do look OEM but he said they were aftermarket. Guess I could check for part numbers on the back. I'm not too bothered as they work and look good 😀

True well have a look on the top and if any numbers begin 4F0 or 4F2 they're genuine.

Maybe the headlights are oem and the xenons are aftermarket?

If they're aftermarket then they're very good copies.
Looks totally OEM to me.

You are right Chris they are OEM. Stickers on top are Audi group stickers and number starts 4F0. Result. I'll take OEM any day.
Must have got wrong end of stick with previous owner. He did say he paid 700 for them.

Simon, how easy/hard was it to wrap the chrome? I'm thinking of doing the grill gloss black, window trim matte black, boot trim gloss black, and try and take off the lower door trim.

It's a bit fiddly but with practice its not too bad. Took me 3hrs to do front as bumper has to come off. Then 2-3hrs per side as the ends are fiddly. Rear is easiest bit. 1hr or less.
Heat gun and plastic squeegees required. Old credit card handy too. Lots of how to's online.
Grille is one big sheet of wrap. Sides I cut 25mm thick strips apart from very back elbow corner. Rear is one long strip.

So a full day then? What about the lower door trim? I'm trying to replicate the black optics pack from Audi. Also did you do all the trim on the windows and boot whilst on the car?

At least a full day. Not sure what you mean by lower door trim?
All trim on doors and boot are done in situ. Tucking the wrap behind the gutter and rubber with plastic squeegee and credit card. I cleaned all the chrome and rubber with solvent first.
Did the upper door handles too. In situ using a template. Made template from paper first. Template for rear elbow round rear quarter window lower corner too.

For solvent I used quantum brake cleaner on a rag. Push rag behind trim with squeegee and get out any dirt. Wrap won't stick otherwise.

Thank god or I'd have had more wrapping to do!!
By the way I had a quote of 330 to professionally wrap the trim but decided to give it a go myself. One of the main reasons is they needed the car for 2 days. Doing it myself meant I could just do a bit when I had a spare 2-3 hours. Saved myself 280 too 😀

MRC Tuning did the business at the weekend. Fitted cat back milltek and gutted the cat and precat. No DPF on mine. Power was slightly down on stock at 226ps but still a nice gain to 283ps and 558nm.
Added major bonus of 5-6mpg more per journey.
350miles to MRC for me. 36.1mpg on way down. 42.7mpg on way back. On my 22m commute I'm seeing 5mpg more. Nice!!
Car sounds good and is pretty damn quick for a big motor.

Nice one, looking at a Revo map for mine with similar outputs. Calculate you mpg manually brim to brim and see how much difference it's made. Can't trust the dis :p

Yeah the dis is optimistic as on all Audis but the delta should be real.

Nice one!
MRC are reputable and well know company, especially within S and RS owners.
So, your power increase is 21%. Is your insurer happy with that, or you don't intend to inform them? I have looked at remap a while ago, was put off by my insurer at that time (Privilege) as they said they would not cover me if power increase was more than 20%. I am with LV (Liverpool Victoria) at the moment, but haven't asked them about remap yet.
If you don't mind me asking, how much did the whole remapping business set you back?
How about your gearbox, have you had a proper gearbox service done? I guess Doug from MRC has mentioned that to you as torque increase will put more stress on the box.
Thanks for your post, you've got yourself a nice piece of kit!

Same colour as my pervious le-mans I had. I think it suits the car very well

Insurance know of my remap yeah.
You'll need to discuss money with MRC themselves.
I'm intending to do a service on the gearbox myself. Feels fine so far. I don't cane my cars everywhere so hopefully it'll be ok.
Thanks yes I love Daytona.

Do you have access to a lift as the gearbox and gearbox oil has to go in level/flat.

...and a VagCom to keep the oil temperature at the level as in service manual.
I would also recommend to re-torque the valvebody bolts (8Nm) to prevent cross leak while the gearbox pan is dropped. I had it done on mine while doing second ATF change and it helped to fix torque converter shudder that my gearbox had been suffering from.

I have a comprehensively equipped garage, vcds and the workshop manuals. Hopefully should be ok.

My local specialist has recently become a Revo distributor so would be interesting to get some first hand experiences!

Simon,
If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your wrap film from ? And also the tools to do the job.
Thinking of giving it a go myself but scared i'll make a pigs ear of it. Would you say it was excessively difficult or just more time consuming ?

eBay Lewis. Bought the 3m 1080 vinyl matt black. It's quite fiddly to do. If you are good at wallpapering its similar although you need to heat and stretch round corners. Too much stretch and it snaps. Tools from eBay too for about £7! Do the boot and grille first as they are easiest. Well taking bumper off aside!

Loving it Chris, I've had it since a month or so after I bought the car. I'd forgotten until I drove my dads A6 (same spec) the other month just how big a difference it is. Strangley other than the added power delivery my favorite thing is that it changes up earlier. Even 2mph earlier makes a huge difference to the overall feel, around town it just feels right. Coming from a c-class Merc Auto I was for ever shouting at the change to the Rings was great but the map makes it money well spent for me. MPG isn't an issue for me as I don't do major milage but if careful I can see a marginal gain - maybe 2-3mpg on a 100m journey. I have a heavy foot and wanted a bit more, it gave me that and more. Highly recommend it and my local Revo agent is happy to help if I have any questions or want it removed or re-installed if issues arise.

H&R springs fitted a few months back. Meant to post a pic up. Not much lower than sline really. 10mm maybe.
Still worthwhile and ride no worse than sline perhaps slightly better.
