Retrofitting power tailgate to a Passat Estate?

Does anyone know if this can be done and what parts are required? It can't be too hard to do and seems to be a standard feature on a lot of newer cars now. My 06 has the blanking plug on the tailgate for the switch so I suppose all the mountings must be there somewhere.

I see there is a kit around from Kufatec for about 1000£. However I guess the bits could be got scrap for a lot less. I just don't know if the ram is mounted in the ceiling of the tailgate.
