My Display was showing 1/4 full for oil so I added 1/2 a litre to start and for the next two days after I got the following display

I then eventually had a reading of 3/4 so topped up again and now I have the same message ? According to the manual it seems I Should be getting a much quicker response to the amount I put in. Any ideas ??

Mine plays silly buggers like this too sometimes. Run the car for a bit then you will find you can check it later on. At service time the dealers put a dipstick in to check the oil instead of using the MMI.
You probably also know it anyway, but the oil display only represents the top litre of oil in the engine. I.e. when its at half mark, you only need to add another half a litre or so to bring it back up.

Thanks Andrew. Definitely going to have to keep it old skool and revert back to a dipstick i think. Still trying to understand the SET button. Am I right in thinking that it checks the system with red icons and then shows them in yellow if all is ok ? Example below of my display after the check

I have exactly the same issue as this, I posted a thread the other month about it... Sometimes the oil info will appear in the centre console too where the dials are, it's very tempremental..
It's drinking oil faster than usual recently, my computer is showing just over 1/2 full from 1.5 litres I've put in over the past week, I've literally driven about 100 miles. So if I ever make a trip to London, according to the oil level I won't make it back which is stupid. I am booking it in at Halesowen Audi after my service to get them to sort it out..

No. Red symbols are different to yellow symbols. Red for stop the car straight away and yellow for an important defect; but you may still drive.
According to the manual:
[Pressing SET button]
"Starting check procedure (auto-check control)
The auto-check control checks important components and vehicle systems. These background checks are run constantly, as long as the ignition is switched on.
You can start the "check procedure" manually by pressing the [SET] button with the ignition switched on. This function check can be started at road speeds up to 5 km/h"
Pfft. If the ignition is switched on - it's always checking. No, the [SET] button effectively just cycles through the icons that can be displayed.
When you open the bonnet, it resets the oil level displayed on the MMI. To get a level displayed there again, you have to warm the engine, stop the engine, but then ignition on again and wait approximately two minutes with the ignition on and on level ground. Or see my 'Unicorn Display' post...
