Has the title says huge missfire when accelerating hard.
I've ran a vcds scan and no faults are showing.
Had trouble with overboost caused by turbo vanes but after a good old Italian tune up no more limp mode but this flat spot.
Replaced fuel filter yesterday.
Do you think missfire could be related to turbo vanes still partially sticking ?
Thanks in advance.

What car? What engine?

Sorry Richard.
2006 Passat 140 tdi BKP engine.

Any thoughts on this please ?
There's an ECU upgrade that sometimes cures this, have you got any history with the car?
Other reports suggest a new injector loom is required.
Have you seen the stickied threads above regarding injector recalls?

Has the car had the injector recall? If so it SHOULD have had a new loom at the same time but about the only thing that can cause a PD misfire is an injector but it should come up as a code.

Had injectors replaced and new loom last year.
At first I didn't think it ran has good with new injectors but it could be my imagination but it's running really well apart from this misfire.
If I run it with vcds connected what measuring blocks should I log ?
Do you think it could show something ?
Thanks in advance.

Have a search on here - there are few complaints about this issue with the BKP engine; some got resolution with the software update, but others had no joy. Mine did it the whole time I owned it, the injector and loom replacement made no difference; the only other thing of note is that it generally didn't do it when the weather was cold, and not when it was really hot - any temperature that would be classed as sort of in between (8-18ºC) and it was an utter pig.
The only thing that I found that made it happen less was to give it a double shot of Miller's Diesel EcoMax every tankful.

I think the misfire data blocks are 13, 14 and 15.

Not a hint of <removed> there Crasher ?

My apologies then Crasher.
I thought you were winding me up when you said log misfire blocks 13,14 & 15.

There are live data readouts in Measuring Blocks 08 at around group 13,14, 15 that show total and individual cylinder misfires. Depending on the software level it can show misfires even under load in some cases.

If this is the same hesitation that lots of people report, it can probably only be sorted by tweaking the software.

Is there anyway of checking if I need a software update with vcds without paying the dealer to be told it's got the latest software ?

VCDS will tell you what you've currently got. Here's mine ('06 tFSI 2.0L) which shows three flashes: first from factory, second recall for intake manifold flaps issue, third my tuner's re-map --

Not well clued up on vcds but I think it's had 1 software update.
I'll ring dealer but don't have much faith in them. Usual reply is bring it in for diagnostics.

Hmmm... Unless it's shown somewheres else, you havn't got any "Software" codes shown
If there's been one update then you should be showing "Programming Attempts" and "Successful Attempts" of "2"
If dealer's already done diagnostics via their VAS then it'll be on their record. Or if VAS has been run in the past.
Again that should show up together with the VAS workshop number that did it.

Cheers Richard.
Waiting for dealer to ring me back so I'll update when I've spoke to them.

Just got a call back from dealer and he reckons if any updates were outstanding they would have been done when the injectors were done last year.
Has soon as I get time I'll run some measuring block readouts as suggested by Crasher and see if that shows anything.

Needle in a haystack,
I reckon you have a hotspot on the head and other than taking it apart for a decoke you won't know,
So with that in mind Webuyanyjunk would be my next dial and get shot of it, don't throw good after bad and the B6 is bad I'm afraid, sorry.
