Those of us with Direct Injection 2.0L tFSI, and TSI have a downside of the inlet manifold and valve tops not being cleaned by the passage of fuel. And Seafoam or BG Clean just bypasses. The only method found to return valve gear to their pristine condition is Walnut Shell granules under pressure. From reading various threads symptoms include slowly decreasing MPG, low revs occasional soft misfire, lower revs lack of torque
Havn't come across anyone in UK doing this for VWs. But just seen a readable link with pix describing the process, where to buy all the kit, and how to use it. It's for BMW 3-series so at the risk of this post going up in flames, here's the very readable thread link:
