Rear fog has not been working since I got the car and it failed the MOT because of it. I thought it was a faulty switch so I replaced the switch,I've changed the bulb and the fuse and its still not working. There is no light on the dash to show a bulb is blown or a light to show that the rear fog is on.
I'm not sure if all 2007 passats are the same but when I switch the engine on the lights come on automatically? The person my wife bougth teh car from told her that it was a safety feature.
I suppose next step is to check I'm getting 12v to the light holder ?
Thanks.

Have you had it scanned for faults?

No I'll have to take it to a garage and get it scanned.
Is the lights always on a normal thing with this model passat?

Must have DRLs enabled. Do all the settings on the light switch work?
I know if the car has a Highline CCM then if the light switch is unplugged or loose, the lights will come and stay on.

Where do you live blazer? Someone on here may be able to scan the car for you.

I've replaced the headlight switch. When I start the car the lights come on and no matter what way I turn the headlight switch the lights stay on. Then the actual light switch arm turns the light from full to low beam.

the vehicle may be configured for daylight running lights or as a a6 chris said a broken signal ref ground on the light switch will cause the lights to stay on. a vehicle registration number will help with the fog light.

So if i get the car scanned it should throw up a fault as to why the rear fog is not working and also should show me if the drls are enabled?

Yes, only with VCDS.

I checked the bulb holder yeaterday and there is no voltage going to it. I checked teh fuse for the rear fog and there is 11v across it so must be a problem with the wiring loom for the fogs.Is there anywhere that these normally break? I checked the part where it comes from the boot back into the car and looks fine.

If you've got 11V across the fuse then that shows the fuse to be open circuit (blown) then the feed is trapped to chassis somewhere before the wire gets to the bulb holder
OTOH, if you're measuring between the fuseholder and chassis on one side and then the other side of the fuseholder, then the live feed to your fog light is open circuit somewhere to bulb holder.
Please clarify how you're measuring this 11V. Which?
The loom usually goes at or around the rubber bung between boot lid and body.
Try to keep meter in sight as you move the loom around. Is it dry in the rubber bung?

sorry mate I was measuring each side of the fuse seperately and got 11v on each side. I'll check if the rubber bung is dry after work thanks,.

If that's each side of the fuse that's not blowing (+ meter) and chassis (- meter) means that the wire after fuse and toward lamp is probably trapped to chassis or a plug/socket en route is well watered. I don't know its route, have never had to trace that out. And no ELSA here.
Has anyone fitted or tried to fit reverse sensors?
What fuse are you measuring from? Martin's site gives diagrams:

No one has tried fitting reverse sensors mate.
PASSAT B6 FUSE ASSIGNMENT - for RIGHT HAND DRIVE CARS - PASSAT (https://sites.google.com/site/1810martin/passat-b6-fuse-assignment) Going by this I'm full sure it was fuse 41 that the manual said was for the fogs but its differnet on this link and also it was a 20A. What fuse should I be checking?
