2gmmi GOOGLE Navigation , done clip on you tube

Hi,

managed to put Google navigation on my 2gmmi via iPhone.

please note that when I zoom in the colours gradually fade- this is the google app, (no idea why the app changes the colour of the maps when you zoom in- ?( it still fades when iPhone is not plugged into mmi.

when I have willing volunteer to record me driving , I will start the google navigation with directions etc, when you start the navigation , google zooms in to junctions / roundabouts when you approach them, and shows round closures and all other traffic info.

I have downloaded google maps (there is an option for this on the app so you don't have to data stream) to my iPhone

recorded with my ipad so quality not great.

Yes, bought xcarlink this week and installed it this morning.

had to jailbrake my iPhone , other wise iPhone will only display album covers and films.

A few members have got X-Link for their MMI 2G systems for say rear view camera/DVD but the iPhone use via it is cracking IMO!

Thanks- watching videos / looking at albums covers using the xcarlink is fine,




.....but when the iPhone is mirrored for example on the home screen the resolution is Not as good, when u look at the apps on the home screen they are a bit fuzzy around the edges along with the text.-also the my you tube video of google navigation is not crisp.


to overcome the lack of clarity on the iPhone screen I plan the do the follwing.


rather than connect the iPhone to the xcarlink via a composite cable (single yellow cable which provides video), I would like to connect the iPhone via RGB (connecting video with 3 cables , there fore higher quality)

here is how I plant to do it.....


1) buy an iPhone VGA adapter.(connect adapter to the iPhone)

2)buy an VGA to RCA adapter( connect VGA cable to apple adapter)

3)the 3 RCA ends (red , blue , green) then need to be connected to the RGB input of the xcarlink. (Cables will need to be crimped /spliced together)
