View Full Version : Rear door lock issues

Before Christmas I forked out a fair few pennies to get the rear driver's door lock changed as all of a sudden from outside the door handle 'went limp' and didn't do anything.. you could open the door from inside - but not outside. Anyway, a few issues when the lock was changed - but all fine now.

And then about 6 weeks later - would you believe it, the rear passenger door handle suddenly stopped working........:zx11:

Now, I have done some serious forum investigations and a few people suggested slamming the door hard. I did this and WoW! the door opens from outside, well did for a week and then problems again.......

I've slammed it again hard today and hey presto - works again.

My question is - what the heck's going on inside the door?? Will it keep playing up, is something work, is something sticking - can I inject WD40 into it from the locking mechanism on the side of the door - can it be fixed, or am I destined to pay out again...?

Would be grateful of any advice, anyone fixed this easily?

Jon :)

It is the cables slipping on the lock. This should not happen with a new lock. Search forum. A fix was posted here some time ago.

Is there a Wiki for getting into the lock. I've started the job, removed the e/w motor, unfastened the door panel surrounding torx bolts but all I get is no more than half inch of clearance with the window up or down. I also have the passenger front door to do too :(
