New Audi owner (Avant TFSI)

Hello to all,

Acquired an A6 Avant 3.0 TFSI last December after looking for a replacement car to my Mercedes 320 CDI Break for over a year.

Wanted a 6-cylinder or better petrol engine and jumped around between Mercedes E Class and Audi Avant for quite some time. Was even considering importing it from Germany when the occasion suddenly materialised in terms of a beautiful S-Line A6 Avant right here in France (only 2 in the whole country were available at the time, the other having a hideous interior).

So pulled the trigger and have been a happy camper since. Nevertheless, planned a visit to the dealer for fixing mainly the sunroof which doesn't close. I'm also hearing some noise from the front axle leading me to think that could be the bearings complaining. Heard somewhere that it could be fixed by just tightening them again because some of them came from factory a bit loose.

Anyway, when I'll have the time, I'll post the options and pics to the post. In the meanwhile, feel free to ask me any questions about this rare but amazing engine.

Felicitations!

A petrol engined A6 must indeed be a very rare beast in France. Here in Switzerland it seems to be the other way round with plenty of petrol engined A6s (especially RS6s). If you bought it from a Parisian dealer I'd be interested to know which one and how the experience was. Over 10 years I bought 4 Audis in Paris from a number of dealers with different experiences..

I had an S4 with the 3.0 TFSI engine. My only complaint back in those days was the fuel economy not being anywhere near claimed. It also needed a better exhaust note, but I don't think that's applicable to the A6. What's your spec and colour? Lets see some photos as well. Nice to see someone offering help as well, rather than asking :-D

They dropped the petrol in 2012 I think, I drove a 3.0 TFSI C7 near the launch date.

Wow, exactly the same problems I have had - not many people have those problems, what a coincidence.

Is it a squeaking sound you're getting from the front? Ours was brake callipers apparently, well it stopped the noise at least when they replaced them, and then replaced them again about 9 months later when it came back.

And the sunroof problem (same as yours) is under investigation tomorrow - car was dropped off at the dealers tonight. I'm presuming a faulty sensor.
