Just thought I would say hello. I have moved on from my B7 3.2 Quattro to a new B8 2.0TDI Quattro.

Since I am here, I thought I would ask the following. I am on an Audi Solutions PCP contract for my car. I can't see anything specifically saying that a remap is not allowed but I thought I would ask to see if anyone here know either way. I miss the power of the 3.2 off the line so was hoping a remap might help with it. The power once going isn't too noticable against the 3.2, but the noise is :(

Enjoy!

2009+ Audis (and everything else I think!) need the ecu cracked open and programmed directly to the chip, the finance company will not like this and will void any warranty if the remap caused anything to break and void the warranty on the ecu itself.

Ok, good to know, thank Chris. That was a very rapid reply! I don't suppose there is anything I can do with VCDS? I heard that the power is limited in first gear, and it certainly seems that way from my limited mileage so far!

Do whatever you want with VCDS, needle sweep etc ( Audi A4 B8 - VAG.com Tricks (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?69276-Audi-A4-B8-VAG-com-Tricks) ) and they won't care as they're all reversible/turned off.

I suppose you could fit a reputable tuning box (Diesel Tuning UK) which you can then take out when the car goes in for warranty/servicing as this will not break any warranty rules.

No idea on the first gear thing, I know the old 2.0 140 PD lump had issues with this but from driving a 177 A5 2.0 I couldn't feel any bogging down in first.

Maybe I need to just floor it then. I did notice that in the 3.2 you dont need to put the foot down much to get the oomph :D

Hi and welcome to this side of the forum :)

I can wholeheartedly recommend the DTUK tuning box Tuning Box or Remap? (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?152146-Tuning-Box-or-Remap)

I spent a lot of time deliberating over remap or tuning box, and from a power perspective there doesn't appear to be much in it but from a convenience and warranty perspective the tuning box wins hands down. The guys at DTUK are very friendly and helpful, give them a call and have a chat with Andy the MD, I'm sure you won't be disappointed with the improvements you get. You'll get a forum discount (was £80) and also get a 14 day money back guarantee, so if your not happy then just send it back, it's win win.

I would say don't expect too much on the increased MPG side though.

Also... If you press your ESP button once it should switch to a "sports" mode which stops the car retarding the power as much under acceleration (mine certainly does anyway but could be MY specific).

Thanks for the info AGW82, I will look into that option. Interesting point about the ESP button, I will try that too. Out of interest, what is MY? I have seen it around a few times and wasn't sure what it was...

I've just read through your post in regards to the tuning box. It sounds like you are definitely experiencing more power. Have you managed to determine how it has affected your fuel economy yet?

I've definitely got plenty more power, and I think you'll get even better results from a manual (I'm assuming you have a manual box)

As above I wouldn't have any expectation of increased MPG, my driving type and schedule has changed for a short time so I'm not doing the same routes or as much mileage, so I don't have a fully consistent result. What I can say with certainty is that the MPG has not got noticeably worse, and I'm spending the same amount of money on diesel as before the box was fitted (up to the end of last year), so more power without any change in fuel costs is still a winner for me.

I also understand DTUK will be launching a new box shortly that does have access to set the box's setting without having to open it up (which is very useful during testing)
