Check with your dealer! Mine is willing to do a few VCDS tweaks for me as part of the handover!

(Nice spec by the way!!)

I did think of that, but I assumed the dealers were less than helpful when it comes to tinkering (without charging)?
I will ask the question :)

Blimey, I only signed the paperwork this morning and I'm clock watching already!!

Does anyone know about the TPMS on this? What is it, ABS or Sensor? Anyone got any pics to share of what they have?
Please!

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System is ABS sensor based i think - there is no special pressure monitoring stuff inside the wheel that can get damaged when tyres are changed.

Got no pics but i have seen mine go off twice. First time it just went off and said tyre pressures are low - check them and reset the TPMS system so it is calibrated for correct pressures. The cause of that was simple temperature differences... When I collected the car early July it was 29C, once the temps dropped to 12C it saw a tyre pressure drop and nagged (and it was right they all needed 3 or 4 PSI).
Second time it was "nearside rear tyre is under inflated" or words to that effect, and it was right 'cos there was a nail sticking out of the tyre.

Correct,ABS Sensor based

Cheers guys, am I right in that it doesn't show PSI etc, just a symbol if pressure loss is detected? Does anyone have a manual about it, I can't seem to find anything using google. Probs just me looking for the wrong thing.

Yes just a symbol + audible warning and text in DIS display. No PSI measurement as all it is doing is comparing the rolling circumference of the tyres against the value when you set it (It is set via an option in the MMI system) and also the comparative rolling circumference between each of the 4 wheels. That way you get either a generic low tyre pressure warning because more than one tyre is low or a specific tyre earning when one tyre is low (usually a puncture). Not sure you will find an extract of the manual on the web as Audi seem not to be keen on offering pdf versions of their vehicle documents and anyone else posting something like would be breeching copyright

Not much need for a manual that description is pretty much it. You have to remember to reset it when you change the tyres.

It does work I had it on my A4 and it alerted me to big old nail in one tyre long before you would spot it visibly.

So chaps, quick question for you, and it might be just me over expecting reality but what is the process for buying a brand new car?
1, find and spec car
2, negotiate price
3, put down deposit
4, sign Audi Finance paperwork and send back
5, wait...... Wait some more.....

I was expecting a little bit more interaction and all the questions I have asked since I paid the deposit have been met with one or two line replies that don't really answer the question I asked..... Is this just a typical salesman pitch?

To be fair, the guy was one of the nicest easiest salesperson we have dealt with which is why I placed the order, or is he just well practiced?

Seems to follow my own experience. Your sales guy should let you know as it achieves key milestones in its build and delivery process but other than that they haven't really got much to tell you. Also I have found that I invariably know more than the sales staff when it comes to stuff about the car. When I bought mine I was asked whether I needed the Lighting Pack or not (primarily to get the lights above the mirrors in the sun visors) it took a good 15 mins for the sales guy (plus a number of colleagues) to ascertain whether the lights were in the car as standard or not (they are but the as has been discussed on here recently the description in the sales material about the lighting pack is ambiguous at best).

My sales contact has been absolutely awful. At the very start of the process I asked if contact win email was OK with him as I find it more convenient. He said absolutely. He takes literally weeks to respond sometimes and often not until I chase him. Hasn't phoned me with an update even once, by now the car should be on its way to the UK. I have absolutely no idea what to expect once it reaches the dealership, he seemed to imply at one point that I would be handed over to a handover agent. I really do hope so.
Sometimes I really regret that I feel duty bound to continue the relationship via him solely because I reached the agreement with him.

That's a real shame, you would have thought that spending £50k+ on a car would spark a bit of personalisation and the extra mile.

Who else has a story?

Also, who else has Audi Finance, what paperwork and documents did you get after placing the order?

MRC Tuning. Banbury......extract from email Ben sent me

Expected figures will be 365-370 PS and 800 Nm. It would cost £650 inc VAT.
This is a remap performed on our rolling road and before and after dyno
plots will be provided.

Don't think I got anything between order and delivery. A couple of days before I took delivery I had to go into the dealer and sign the various finance documents so that the funds were in place in time. At that point I think I was given a copy of the agreement. I am guessing that in reality there is no finance agreement in place until the car is delivered so you are not really a customer until that point

Finance; had a telephone call with the dealers finance guy a week or so before collection where he asked for basic info like bank account details etc. Suppose this was to do a credit check. Actually signed the documents as part of the collection process. This was the point at which the finance guy tried to sell me GAP insurance and Audi car insurance. I'd already told my sales contact I wasn't interested in these but I guess they thought it was worth another go at selling them.

SamF

Finance; ........

They already have all my bank details etc and apparently have already approved the finance. I have signed some agreement papers outlining the PCP deal and monthly payments etc.
I have already negotiated 4yrs GAP, Warrantly and Servicing in so I guess they have no reason to talk to me now until the car arrives... :(

The estimated date is 9th April, so I guess I will just wait.

Thanks all for your input.

Does anyone know when Audi increased the contribution from £2250 to £4500?

fest0r
20-02-2014, 11:27 PM
I think it always has been around £4000/£4500. The £2250 figure is what DtD and some other places tell you the dealer contributes if you take out the finance even though they actually get £4500 from Audi.

To be honest, I wouldn’t expect them to heavily discount a car and also take the chance of losing another £4500 if you pay off the finance early. They might give you the full contribution or at least work the figure it into the deal if the car isn’t discounted in the first place though.

Just been informed mine will be ready on Monday-a month earlier than expected. Was originally being built week 16, next week, and expect delivery mid May. Only trouble is they haven't done the number plate transfer. I am due to be away and they didn't seem too bothered about keeping it for the next few weeks. Trouble is, I now want to collect it!
Seeing your car doesn't help! Very nice. I had a white avant as a demonstrator but my wife's is an a4 avant and it was just too much. Real case of mini me.
All the best with the car.

Get a taxi and offset the cost against parking for two weeks... s'wat I do for any trip over 3 days now (cos I'm travelling on business and expensing the taxi / parking). I live about 28 miles from BHX so a taxi is £45 each way (local driver that I use)... once you get to 4 days parking plus the PPM fuel I would claim it's a wash costwise vs. using a taxi.
For a 2 week trip, unless you have a deal with a company that maxes the price after 5 days then a taxi should be viable.

i HATE leaving my car in any car park for extended periods let alone airport car parks which tend to be narrow spaces.

That looks amazing. I bet it is gonna be the longest week of your life!!

Cannot wait for your reports, especially with that Bitdi engine..

Has anyone heard how good dealers are with regard to the Prep? My brother thinks they are likely to give it swirls!? I am a bit worried (for my delivery)...He says I should let our 'detailer' prep it (ceramic wash or something like that..) before the dealer gets his hands on it!

Check your T"s & C"s I'm going away too and hoped that the dealer would have kept the car until I returned!
There is a clause, section 4 I think from hand, which says you have 14 days from when the dealer notifies you it is available for collection, to arrange collection.

Unfortunately, it would have meant my dealer holding it for 7 weeks and the pulled that card. It just means I get play with it for 3 weeks before I go. Downside, I have to pay for it while it sits on my drive :(

I too have concerns, it's all down to the detailer the dealer uses to be honest. I did question the dealer and they were adamant they use a pro, if it's pants, I'll get the money back or charge them for my detailer.
I also spoke to Chris at Beau, he said if they do **** it up, it takes a little bit longer but not the end of the world.

There have also been reports of telling the dealer not to touch it, but they do anyway....

I've got a lovely 120 mile drive home from collection so I will let you know my initial thoughts as soon as I get home.... If I can drag myself out the car!

Hi Sam.
They are not bothered, just told me to let them know when I want to pick it up as they need 2 days warning. I think the car arriving so early has caught them by surprise as well. I will see if my trip goes ahead and if it looks like being delayed I might just pick it up anyway and get to play with it a bit.

Check your T"s & C"s I'm going away too and hoped that the dealer would have kept the car until I returned!

Awesome service, just asked the dealer if he wouldn't mind adding a few VCDS tweaks before I collect the car - couldn't be more obliging, said certainly, send me what you want, he then sent it directly to the head tech and said make it so!

Fantastic!

I now will have:
Enabling Gauge Test/Needle Sweep.
Beep on lock.
Battery Meter.
Boost gauge.
Passenger door mirror dip on selecting reverse.
Enable auto handbrake when shift into P.
Close electric boot lid from keyfob.

On collection = me even happier

If they actually do those I'll be genuinely surprised as they don't use VCDS and their VAS will probably spit out a 'no' as they're not considered a factory 'change'.

That is one MEAN looking car. The LED headlamps really give it a very aggressive set of 'eyes' and the contrasting body/trim/wheels make a fantastically strong design statement. The car has a fabulous stance as well. It just looks hard as nails.

It's very, very, nice.

Wow, congrats on the new car, that's awesome! Bet you are enjoying it.

love the led headlights, glad specced then.

Absolutely glad I specced them, I haven't seen another one on the road yet, the dealer also commented on how awesome they look. Adds that extra dimension

My dealer promised to be quite so obliging too but, as Chris suggests, couldn't deliver in the end.Hi M

Hi mate, yup you were right, dealer passed it on to the techies who didn't do anything and just said too busy to do it....
Any of you generous gentlemen in the Leicester area fancy jumping on this with your VCDS and playing with it over the Easter period?

Led headlights at night are flipping awesome! That full beam assist is clever but I wouldn't want to trust it, I'd hate to get dazzled by these oncoming.

It is just like driving during daylight hours, so bright and crisp if you understand how I am poorly explaining it :)

The Bi-Xenons are blooming bright so can only imagine what the LEDs are like.

Full beam assist is great too, don't be put off by the full beam indicator taking a while to turn off, the offside headlight gradually lowers so as not to dazzle before dipping relatively late. I've done about 200 miles in the dark and never been flashed once.

I think I'm even more impressed when following someone with the FBA activated. If you stay a bit further back full beam will stay on but will keep the light level below their rear lights. If they turn a bend and go out of sight the whole road suddenly explodes in light! Love it!

Actually, this has been discussed a few times on here.

LEDs will insta-off compared to your Bi-Xenons (I reckon anyway) so it's less "dazzly" but a few of us old timers have switched off the HBA on the Bi-Xenons as it's seriously hindering intelligent timing on the human part - meaning, I'm quicker than it, every time and got bored with being flashed and looking like a loser. I put it down to being made of flesh and not nailed together by a German, but each to their own.

Obligatory smiley so as not to offend anyone

Haha, yes I've seen some of the previous comments. Perhaps they've tweaked something then, as I said I've done 200 miles using them in the dark and not been flashed yet.

So these are probably really bad pictures but I tried to capture the differences in light modes.

Top left button activates the 'All Weather' mode (front fog equivalent).
Below that is the rear fog.
Round button on the right you push in for it to come out about 15mm and controls the speedo dial brightness.
The rest is self explanatory.

I thnk I need some kind of filter to take a decent picture head on with the lights so you can see the patterns, but they definitely change layout depending on circumstances.

One I didnt do was the full high beam - but take my word for it, everything that is black above is bathed in light!
