Hi all,
Im looking for someone who has knowledge on how to tighten subframe bolts and what over or under tightening them could do.
Long story short today I replaced the engine mount insert which goes into the subframe. I used new bolts and torqued them down to spec and may have been a little over enthusiastic about getting them tight enough. Could this cause the popping sound I now get under hard braking and acceleration or could they still need further tightening?
I'm going to take it to my mechanic but if I've damaged these bolts by over tightening then I may as well get new ones and take them to him to replace.
Any advise would be much appreciated.
