Q7 COMFORT ARM REST - taking apart , please HELP

Finally got the part for the comfort armest. (


(I want to replace the black ring in the cup holder with the chrome one -)


cost of part was £13.44 including vat.


Any ideas on how to take the armest apart to, fit the part.


So far.....


1) Removed the rubber base of,the cup holder - this just pulls out,


Then noticed hex screw, undone and removed .


2) did the same for the other cup holder (cup holder that's under the hinged lid ) in the armest(removed rubber base - removed hex screw)


3) removed phone dock , removed rubber surrond where the phone dock is - this then revealed to more hex screws - removed both screws.


But nothing - I have looked at the ETKA drawing of the cup holder in its dismantled form , but still can't work it out.


also lifted the whole of the armrest up to look at the bottom - couldn't see any screws.


Any help,would be appreciated thanks.

Stop start with the silver round start button, on ebay currently from a6, need to check dimensions and plug.

New shape gear lever.

Mine doesn't have stop-start, but i also thought the gear lever would be a nice touch , looked on ebay I think it was £90.00

also I think that the q7 gear lever is not exclusive to the vehicle - I think you could use other ones (same design ) from differant models - wonder if people hike the price cause its a q7.....

2007 S Line, 3.0tdi, 57 plate. 1/2 leather which I prefer, AMI, Lane assist, adaptive cruise, Bluetooth, advanced key, and prob more.

We love it, aside from the few niggles we've had to start with.

What colour is it ? Mines lava grey,also has bluetooth , power tail gate

Had a one niggle 3 months after we bought it , when engine was started it was hunting for the correct tick over speed, fault was new throttle body required - plastic / nylon cogs were worn, - replaced under warranty!

What niggles did you have ?

if it can be done on the A5 , I don't see why it can't be replicated in a q7

it looks similar to the xcarlink - except this one has the sound built in to.

With the xcarlink multimedia , you have to buy the sound interface module as well, the link to the one you gave me is,all in one, so much better.

i have emailed them to ask what model year it is suitable for , will let u know when I get there email.

I didn't study the connectors etc.

I am really surprised at the lack of info on this type if stuff. It's all over the Merc, BMW and Land Rover forums.

Unless of course it really can't be done, which I find hard to believe with all the gadgetry out there for all types of vehicles.

Just realised it doesn't have audio...d'oh!

Images of the chrome trim for the cup holder which is now fitted.

there is a gap of about 2mm around half of the new chrome trim(half nearest the gear knob), if sat in passenger/ drivers seat you don't really notice the gap- it's more noticeable if u look directly above the trim.

for me the gap is acceptable- but one could put a bead of black silicone sealent in the gap , but prob not a perfect colour match and might draw attention to it.

despite the gap it doesnt move as the new chrome trim slots into the bottom of the cup holder , and then cup holder is screwed in.

images show cup holder from above where gap is most noticeable-

( the gap could be sealed from underneath the cup holder to prevent spills going down the gap- you wouldn't notice the sealent when cup holder has been reassembled)

Hi.


Thank you for getting back to me.


The interface is a media interface so does not have an audio output as such but the audio can be connected through the AUX connection, this may need a bit more wiring in by someone that has fair knowledge with auto electrics.
I have tried to take a couple of pictures of the cables and interface so please find these attached.
