Hi All,
Last week I managed to hit a hidden pothole which was about 5cm deep. Immediately burst the tyre which I got replaced and was then told by the tyre fitter that the alloy was warped, no kink just a wobble when spun.
Can this be reconditioned at all or do I have to get a new alloy?
Rotor Alloys btw as that probably makes a difference.

Ouch. Minimum £500 isn't it? Insurance job?
There are templates on MSE I think that you can use/follow to send details to the local authority to make a claim possibly (all usual caveats apply.)

A call to the dealer to ask who they use to repair/refurbish wheels might be worthwhile. Unlikely to get a proper view as to whether it can be repaired unless someone who knows what they are doing takes a look at it

With regards to claiming from the local authority. They are particularly evasive on this matter as the total bill (given the state of some of our roads) could be huge and they are all on restricted budgets.
The bottom line is that it (the pothole) needs to be on the highway and that someone else has already (prior to you incident) reported it to the local authorities. i.e. they have been told it is there and are remiss for not having fixed it. If the latter is not the case then you are performing a useful public service in reporting it but they will decline any payment.
Based on experience with a wrecked tyre on my wife's A2 a few years back...

Potholes.co.uk - Home Page (http://potholes.co.uk) seems to be the universally recommended site to report potholes on and to see whether the pothole is already reported

Ring the council and report the pothole (or get the Mrs/a friend to do it).
Ring the following morning and tell the that you've it a pothole and damaged your wheel.
Claim.
