audi a4 tdi hard to start in morning

audi a4 2.0 tdi 2005 in a morning car does not want to turn over , after turning key 3 or 4 times it startes then its ok all day also on dash red brake light flashes 3 times and beeps ,, brakes all good had a new battery lasy week but still doing it could it be starter motor on way out

When you turn the key and the starter does not turn over, do you hear any noises from the engine bay? It could be that the battery is flat due to a charging problem or that the starter motor solenoid is sticking but that would be a very rare failure. The brake fluid warning is a red herring, these A4's suffer interference on the starter motor power cable that was dealt with by a TPI from Audi on cars already built and a software change on later vehicles. I had a car just like this about a year ago and the TPI had been carried out but still the warning came on and it was a faulty new battery fitted by the a breakdown organisation. It went into Audi Newark and they missed it.

new battery fitted last monday and had it checked its all good guy i took it to seems to think starter is sticking when left overnight so have new one fitted and we will see if it helps

Had the same problem on my 3.0 tdi. Put a new battery on and no change. The starter looked ok but in testing there was a faulty cable between the solenoid and the starter. This could not bd fixed ad it's a sealed unit. New starter fitted and it works perfectly.

new starter motor needed its all ok now works great
