Hi all
probably a stupid question, I've only had my Golf for a few weeks and have been meaning to ask about the lack of a visible door lock, where I would put a key to unlock the vehicle if the battery ever went flat or the central locking failed. I've had cars where there is a lock on the passenger side, and the boot lid. But I have looked on both sides and can't see any options. ( its a 10 plate 2.0 TDI GT by the way ) thanks in advance for any input.

You should have one on the drivers side at least.

Looks on this picture that there is a far left cover which pops off.

Did you look in your handbook?

As Chris says the lock is covered by a plastic cover. Use the key blade in the slot underneath to carefully prise it off then you can unlock the drivers door with the key.

Instructions are in the handbook if you have one.

Put some paper or card under the slot - you don't want to scratch the paintwork :)
