Hi all,

I'm new to the scene, and to VWs. 7mths back I managed to get a hold of a '98 1.6 auto in Dragon Green (AFT engine) stock standard, but all in imprfessively good nick. So I'm here to say hi to all members. YoooooOOOOO!!!!

I dont have a benchmark since this car is rare where I'm at, but been reading Performance VW, and almost all other VW sites out there on the web since years back. The car's been good to drive, and corners like it's on rails - well almost! So one thing led to another over the months yada yada yada ~ now I want to add on some 17" rims! Yeah!!

This was where all my problems began... Thoughts of ~ wheels = added weight ~ needs more power ~ no expertise here ~ damn!

We get a lot of the Japanese rims here, so even locating a suitable set is a challenge. The main issue here is I dont think it's producing enough power to handle the added weight of larger wheels ~ so was wondering if anyone out there has experience modding a 1.6 auto.

So if anyone out there is kind enough to say hi, unload advice, or even anything, I'm all ears. But for the moment, sticking to NA is the plan.

Cheers!
PS Yea yea, I know a 2.8VR6 is the ultimate engine of choice, but I cant maintain it here since there are 'no' parts available, aka NONE. And nobody has the expertise to do the conversion either... So I'm playing with the cards I'm dealt while keeping it normally aspirated, anymore would be too expensive.
