Howdy all. Got a weird noise which I can only hear when doing 50+ on motorway coming from underneath the car. Its always done it since ive bought it and the previous owner said the same.

Its definetly not engine, its almost like a rythmic hum/whirring, definetly mechanical. Can feel it through the cabin floor, no vibrations in pedals or wheel wobble or anything. Tyres have been changed, just im getting the car remapped this weekend and want to get all the niggles/sounds sorted before i do.

I remember reading a thread on ukpassats a long while back, someone had the same issue and it turned out to be like a rubber seal had perished possibly around the drivetrain but i could be wrong.

Cars a 58plate cr 4mo saloon with 132k on the clock. Any ideas? :1zhelp:

its apparently a sealed unit so im erm guessing never.....

When i bought the car i took it to dealers and ask them for a haldex oil change, all of them said its a sealed unit you dont need to or cant change it. Previous owner said the same, it has full dealer history and he said the same, his dealers said sealed unit doesnt need a change.

They do sell top up oil, at £35, so may buy it, when its on the ramp this saturday ask the mechanic (who says hes done 2 in the past) to see if he can do mine or even if its possible to do mine
