I am having this problem with battery drain, i don't know if it is all part of another problem (computer thinks rear hatch is open when it's not, tried replacing lock and micro switch to no avail) But as well as this the hazard warning switch is glowing all the time, and frankly it's driving me round the twist. I've checked the wiring to the rear lock and it looks OK.Anybody had similar problems and could shed some light on this one for me.

I,m not familiar with same but I would check to see if boot light is going out when closed.

The boot light was staying on but I've taken the bulb out but the battery is still draining. The hazard warning triangle in the middle of the dash is not timing out as it should, it does go of after a while but comes back on,
one idea was that the rear hatch closed micro switch was faulty ( a common problem due to water from the washer getting into it) I've replaced the whole latch assembly with a new one and still the hatch open warning comes up.

Have you tested the new one ?? I had this on my a2 and the new one from audi was also futzed!!

Just pull the connector from the module and as normally open = boot closed

And then see what happens

Tried that but still saying boot open I'm afraid.

Rear wiper & water jet working ok, as this is usually the cause of the switch etc being replaced.

Yea the wiper and washer are working fine and everything is dry,I tried a new battery and for about 10 minutes I thought all my prayers had been answered and then the bloody boot open warning came on again.
So it's booked in for a full diagnostics check next Monday.Might be back to a Merc if this doesn't work.

I think it was already mentioned in another thread it maybe your conv module with issues, maybe this has got wet, you'd need to remove side drivers side boot trim to check directly.

Check the boot lock connector for any green corrosion marks on the metal pins inside connector, if it has this then you've definitely had a leak, although the pins can be removed & cleaned of green crap.

Well guys I hope I'm not jumping the gun here but it looks as if I've got to the bottom of the problem and it's sorted.I put a new battery on and the hatch open warning slowly over a number of days disappeared, but the hazard warning triangle in the middle of the dash was still glowing and it was still flattening the battery. So I was disconnecting the the positive lead.Well that really confused the whole thing and the wipers started working intermittently as did the main beam the speedo rev counter and all the dash basically, and the air con as well.So took it to the local Bosch garage (Lochbroom Garage in Ullapool) and they put it on the diagnostics, and came up with about 11 different fault codes nearly all of them being low voltage limits exceeded and one saying no signal at central locking module. So they cleared them all and said it looked like a job for a main dealer £££££££££.
But the car is cured (Crossed fingers) and everything is working as it should. So was all of the faults in between the faulty hatch lock and getting it sorted caused by a knackered battery?? I don't know but it SEEMS to be sorted.
So if you have problems it might just be worth getting a new battery and getting the fault codes erased !! who knows.By the way they charged me £36 for the diagnostics what a bargain. And said it may be fixed it may not.

Well that's it guys it wasn't fixed and now it won't start and needs an new ECU, one fault to many it's getting fixed and sold and I've bought a Focus ST 3. So you won't be hearing from me again. Thanks for all your help and suggestions, it's been a pleasure unlike the ownership experience.
