I've had my new Black Edition for a couple of weeks now, some things I've noticed with this new B8, compared to my previous B8 S line...
I prefer the S line aesthetics (apart from the flat-bottomed steering wheel)... I think I made a mistake with the BE styling - the inside looks better when you have the more standard silver trim, and the outside looks (in a way, to me) cheaper on the Black Edition with the black bits all over.
I love the new MMI and navigation - coupled with Audi Connect - I got Google Streetview working today, turn the dial left again when at 30m resolution, and it was actually quite a useful thing to me.
The speech command "cancel navigation" is now no longer what the car expects... it used to answer to this with "route guidance will be stopped", now it asks "do you want to stop route guidance?" and then you say "yes". I think the command it expects now is "stop route guidance", I tried that, though, and it still asked me for confirmation... maybe there's a setting so our interaction can be more efficient. I will dig into the menus.
The auto. crawl in this car is nowhere near as pronounced as it was in the previous B8... struggling to understand why this should be the case. When I am parked on a driveway, reversing out, up a slight incline, the car will roll forwards if I let it - my previous B8 would never do this - I don't think I ever felt it move forwards when in reverse. This is a big difference in two cars that are both B8s... need to get used to it, I really don't like the difference. Yet, it will hold itself stationary on a relatively steep hill (in D, going forwards).
Each time I start the car up, I hear about 3 or 4 subtle "clicks", over a period of about 5 seconds, emanating from the lower right of the driver's position - somewhere possibly under the steering column, or near the big B&O woofer in the door... this is quite disconcerting and I can't figure out why it would need to do that... I'm definitely going to monitor it.
The B&O is growing on me, but only very slowly... I can't even now say that it's noticeably better than the stock audio system I had in the previous B8.
The auto-folding mirror on the driver's side is really, really noisy when doing its folding thing when you're sat inside... but, from the outside it's quiet. How strange is that?
