Hello all, after some advice...
Went to use the aux in port in the arm rest at the weekend for the first time since owning my A4 Avant, plugged an aux cable into my iphone and the other end into the jack in the arm rest and nothing....
Would it be my cable or was i expecting this to be way more straight forward than it actually is... :1zhelp:
Thanks
Did you select the "source" by pressing the NE segment of the control and scrolling down to"aux"? What message appears on the screen? I suspect that it is looking for a CD.

As above, make sure you're selecting aux and the volume on your iphone is turned up fully.

Yes, sorry forgot that bit - selected aux and it said there was nothing on my device or something along those lines. Can get the exact message today.

Hmm not sure if you are on the right mode? The aux is a "dumb" simple line in connection. It wouldn't be able to tell what was or wasn't on your device

I'm pretty sure I read that you need to use AUDI AUX cable

That's wrong, an aux cable is a simple 3.5 jack to 3.5 jack. Any cheap cable will do

Like I said I read it somewhere think it's another forum.
Some guy had to have a dispute about it as they didn't supply him one when he picked up the car, and he used a 3.5 cable but didn't work. But he may have been a special case? :)

I think you are referring to the ami cable which is audi specific. The 3.5 aux is just a simple 3.5 cable. I have ami myself so don't have aux, but a colleague does and has always used cheap ebay jobs without issue.
At any rate....there is still confusion as to whether the op means aux or not, as aux would not be able te detect whether a device was connected or what was stored on it. Ami obviously would however.

OP, take a pic of your headunit, the inside of your glovebox and anything under the centre armrest ;)
