Coming from the B5 Passat forum...
Had a drive in a 2.0SE today, very smooth, quiet and rattle free and this was on an 11'plate with 32k miles….quite impressed to say the least.
I liked the ride and feel of the car especially the quite cabin. Responsive steering and brakes and has enough shove for my needs. Surprised no heated seats on the car I drove.
Wasn't too keen on the flip up screen gizmo either, just seemed a distraction.
Prompted to have a look after seeing that Drive the Deal will supply new car at a little over £23.5k with metallic…..seems a lot of car for the money for sure.
Scanning the posts it seems that most concerns seem to revolve around the MMI/phone set up/compatibility.
Anyone here with children that can advise whether the distance between drivers and rear seats is sufficient to avoid the inevitable kicks in the back whilst driving? Short of some limo I can't see any other car big enough to avoid this and carry the family junk around. I like to have my seat quite far back so as my legs are almost straight.
Also I have an i-touch music pad. Will this play through the car ok? I didn't think to ask at the time as I was just enjoying the ride.
Okay that's it thanks a lot

I'm 6'1", so I have the seat back a fair amount and I'm often picking the teens up from school (who are now almost as tall me) and they sit in the back quite comfortably.
I personally find the A6 more roomier in the back than the new 5 series.

I'm 6'3" and don't find the A6 C6 model very roomy in the back, if anything a little tight now that the boys are all grown up, should they or any other adults travel with us.
I have my seat way back for driver comfort and it encroaches into the rear, my side.
Can't comment on the C7, perhaps a little roomier?

I haven't driven the C6 so wouldn't be able to compare the two, anyone owned both?

Mark, member MFGF has I know for sure, perhaps he'll comment?

Really Jim? I find the C6 the best car I've been in, in terms of leg & head room etc. I'm 6' & have had a proper car full of 'not so little folk' with no problem whatsoever. Mind you, when looking at the pics of when you met up with MFGF, the difference in the size of the cars was quite apparent, so I'd expect the C7 to be bigger inside - it was quite a lot bigger externally. I have heard though, that the boot space in the C6 is bigger - can't recall where I heard that.
P.S, apologies for going off topic a little, OP.

I have had 2xC5 Saloons, C6 Avant and now a C7 Avant and during that time my children have gone from (the youngest) 4 to now 18. The C6 definitely has much more room in the rear than the C5 (which IIRC had a common platform to the Passat at the time) whilst I would put the C6 and C7 as being broadly similar. I am 6' and both my children are c5'10 and neither complain about the lack of room in the rear. Some of this of course will come down to body proportions and thus how far back the driver's seat is. I have a longish back and therefore do not need to have the seat as far back as someone (like the OP) who has long legs but a comparatively shorter back would, but I do have the seat fairly low thus reducing the amount of available space under the seat for the rear passenger's feet. Ultimately the only thing to do is to take one of the rear seat passengers with you to an Audi dealer and sit them in the car with the seat set to your liking and see how it goes. Another good test is to set the driver's seat to you preferred position and then sit yourself behind it and a see whether you would be comfortable on a long journey. In answer to the OPs question about any other options the only other "normal" car that comes to mind as providing a massive amount of rear legroom is the Skoda Superb.

Yeah Brycie, its not a major problem, just maybe on longer journeys.
I'm 6'3" so my seat is ALL the way back, probably the beackrest is a little off upright too, this taken with the fact that my sons are both nearly 6'2" can make it a little cramped.
Wife in the front passenger at only 5'4" so there's always plenty of room behind her. As I said though, they're all grown up now with their own cars so that isn't really an issue too much anymore.
I swear though that when I was in Mark's C7 it just felt so much roomier somehow.

The C7 is a nice car I had a test drive in one early this year 30 tdi Quattro and liked it very much but don't like the pop up display feels like an after thought to me. We did like the A7 in the black edition which we nearly did a deal on but I can't get over how big they are and when you put them near the A6 C6 it's miles bigger. We struggle to park this car now in car parks altho we have always had big cars because I'm 6.2 and 16 stone, And don't feel right in small cars. So for now we will stick with the C6 and may look at the 5 series next but think the inside on them are a bit basic looking.
my son is 6.3 and he sits in the back of ours with no problem

The stats on the Passat and C7 are interesting with me coming from one to the other. For me the C7 feels like a lower driving position, in that my legs are straighter/more stretched out.
Whilst headroom is reduced in the C7, it doesn't feel it, because of the lower seating position.
I'm 6'1" and have the seat quite far back but my 6' plus son's don't have a problem with space. I think that the room in the back is pretty huge and don't think there are many cars that will better it apart from the big limos?
As regards luggage space between the two the Passat is better because the slope of the rear is more upright.
I suppose that the pop out screen could be viewed as a bit of an afterthought but going down that design route does free up space for other things and does position it nice and high for viewing. I don't have a problem with it, because underway, unless I'm using the sat nav which isn't very often, i have the screen in the closed position.

I'm 6 ft and have had a car full of equally sized adults. No issues with rear legroom, probably the roomiest estate in the back seats I've seen.

Am a short@rse and my kids still easily fit in the back of my Jag XK pictured.even behind me
Advantages are a) Don't knock myself out on low flying door lintel b) have never had back-ache c) when I fall over the ground's so close :D
A C6 driver too & there's LOADS of space behind the drivers seat...however (as has already been said) was in a Superb last week and you could play football back there!

The boot size on the C6 and the C7 is much the same. As for the rear seat, the C6 was better if you had three people, the C7 is definitely biased towards two. I don't think there is much more room in the back of the C7, but the seat has a better shape so it uses the space far better.
The main thing I noticed when I had both on my driveway was that the C7 was far taller, and the bonnet edge much higher.
My parents are now on their second superb and yes, in terms of interior space they beat any A6 hands down.

I am 6'3", my dearly beloved House Dragon 6' and our two kids bean poles (12 Y/O 5'7"). Absolutely no problems with a C7 Avant fitting us all in with both up front putting our seats where we want them.
