hello :beerchug:
I'm new to posting on the forum, but have been reading over the info during the process of ordering my new A6 Avant.
I've gone for a 2.0 tdi Black Edition multironic Avant, in moonlight blue. opted for the ‘5-segment-spoke’ design rather than the standard black edition wheels.
Options I ticked:
Technology pack
Heated front seats
Folding mirrors
Heated steering wheel
Coming from a 5 year old A3 really looking forward to having it. Got a pretty decent deal from Coventry Audi who have been very good so far!

Sounds like a good spec! Would be interested seeing the Midnight Blue when you get it.
Enjoy.

quick picture taken when I collected the car earlier. I love it!
one very annoying thing is on my Galaxy S4, im with Vodafone, whenever it connects to the car to utilise the data, it sends me several texts saying "it looks like something has changed, we are sending you new settings" anyone else have this?

That looks great. Like the wheels but they look a bit fiddly to clean within the spokes.
She looks lovely! Connecting with my iPhone and blackberry (both Vodafone) is problem free so can't help you with that one. I was tempted by those wheels myself but I've grown to love the aggressive look of the black edition with the titanium wheels.....saying that though, yours are great looking. I'm keen to see more pics of the colour if you get a chance, as it looks black from this picture. Audi do these 'subtle' colours really well in my opinion, but photos rarely do them justice.

Looks fantastic. Does anyone know but are those the wheels the same as those of the last gen RS6?

Yes they're the same but the C6 has a smaller centre bore.
Lovely car btw ;)

........"it looks like something has changed, we are sending you new settings".......
I assume you're connecting using rsap. When you do this it looks to the vf network as though you've taken the sim card out of one phone and put it into another one. It therefore thinks it's being helpful by sending you some new settings you can use in the new phone. This keeps happening as you connect to and then disconnect from the car.
This has happened to me and it can be cured. Call Vodafone and explain the issue and that you want these messages to stop. The chances are the call centre staff will not understand what you're talking about, be patient and ask to be connected to someone / department with more extensive technical knowledge. Your phone can be put on a list to which these messages will not be sent.
I've done this and Vodafone made it go away. I researched this at the time and managed to find out what the vodafone system is called which manages this, unfortunately I can't find it again. If I do manage to find it I'll let you know.
I've found it, the list is called the 'VDC Blacklist'; get your phone on it and these messages should stop.

that's really helpful thanks. I did try speaking with Vodafone yesterday, and the guy on the other end of the phone was saying its a wifi problem. I thought it would be something as you described. ill give them a call tomorrow to get it sorted.
ill also try and get some more pics. I am so happy with the choice of colour. I see lots of white/grey A6's round here, but no MB.

The 5 seg's are a right pain in the backside to keep clean!
I'm having to wash them weekly in the current weather - definitely worth investing in some smaller brushes to clean inbetween the spokes if you clean them yourself.
Although they look miles better than the Rotor design ;)

Simple way of keeping your wheels clean (or easier to wash :p)
Valetpro Bilberry Wheel Cleaner 1 litre & 2 Brushes ! | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Valetpro-Bilberry-Wheel-Cleaner-1-litre-2-Brushes-/111160787410?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleani ng&hash=item19e1b301d2)
EZ Detail Large Brush | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EZ-Detail-Large-Brush-/161108126906?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleani ng&hash=item2582caecba)
Chemical Guys - Wheel Guard - Clean Your Car (http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wheels-and-tyres/chemical-guys-wheel-guard/prod_197.html)
Top two everytime you wash the car, apply the wheel guard and it'll make it easier to wash after.

Ive got some Autoglym wheel wax (of some type or another) and not used it yet. I have to get the sponge right in the gaps to clean those alloys every time I clean them so not sure its worth the effort. They are a pain but they do look amazing when they are clean. After looking at the link from Chris above, i might invest in a shaving brush to help.

Is the wheel guard actually effective?

Wonder if it's OK to use on Rotors? Does anyone know what the finish is out of interest?

The 7 Spoke 19's on my Avant are right up there in terms of being PITA to keep clean, I have put a high temp wax on but you want them to look nice as well as be protected. Non acidic wheel cleaner and a pressure washer works ok but I still need to use the long wheel brush as you can see so much of the wheel interior through the spokes. Up there with the 20" Sentas on the Jag for faff factor.
My D3 A8 Sport had the best wheels i have ever had for keeping nice, why has Audi gone for such hard to keep clean patterns of late ?

Still easy though when compared to those multi-spoke pattern (like a lot of little diamonds) that were fairly common many years ago as used on BMW's etc. Fortunately I never had any of those. :D

I found applying Collonite 845 to my black powdercoated Ronals from new (and before fitting to the car) kept them looking rather spiffing and easy to clean..all ruined when I curbed them though! :(

agreed. I went from Pepperpot alloys on a 3.6 XJ-S to Lattice pattern on a V12. Both were hell to clean but the Lattices were all but impossible. I will give Colly 845 a go though on the 19's, I've got a bottle of that in my bag of tricks.
