Hi All,

This may be a very straight forward question to a resident expert here. I'm trying to find the meaning of a warning light that has appeared today on my dash.

I have a 2008 2.0tdi, after a beep this morning a green oil can type symbol has appeared on the lcd screen on the dash. i can't see a green one in the handbook, i presumed it was low oil but the dipstick shows plenty.

can anyone point me in the right direction please ?

thanks for any help, or if you need any more information let me know.

thanks

NikB

i've just checked again. i have a picture on my phone but i wont be able to get it on the forum till tomorrow as i'm in work at the moment on a locked machine.

its an oil can with one drip at the nozzle, a wavy green underline then says MIN at the side.

this is what prompted me to check the oil, which i did put some in and its currently sitting around max on the stick.

i'll pop the photo on tomorrow ...

thanks

Pic supplied

As I said to Rik last night, a scan with VCDS would maybe show the level sensor is faulty.

I can't see any green, so give your glasses a wipe Rik ;)

well, it looked green on the dash ! i'll give my glasses a clean then ...

i popped my vagscanner on and it doesn't show any codes so i'm at a bit of a loss here.

i may just do an oil and filter change to be on the safe side.

thanks

is it possible for the 'min' sensor to go faulty? could be that? :)

I have no doubt that is a possibility. Would probably need a VCDS scan to be sure.

A faulty sensor? On a VAG car? practically unknown (he lied unconvincingly)

could be a faulty oil level sensor, I have been having problems with my 2007 2.0 tdi 170, saying oil level min although it is bang on the max..
