Flip Remote Key Fob

Only got 1 key with second hand car (53 Passat 1.9 tdi). Went to main dealer (Liverpool VW) ridiculously expensive (£150.00). Bought 1 off ebay (frequencies match original key exactly) Managed to program remote opening & got blade cut to match (will operate door barrels & ignition). The problem I have is it will not operate the immobiliser, took key to dealer (Liverpool VW) They said the keey could not ber programmed. are they being truthful or does anyone have any solutions?????
