Does anybody know if the 1.4 engine in a Mk3 Golf is an interference engine, or not - as I have been led to believe. Just bought the car as a cheap runabout and a timing belt change would cost about the same as the car's worth, so if it's not in any danger of crunching the valves I'll leave it alone! There's no service history so I had a look at the belt, and it appears to be in good condition, and there are plenty of other jobs to do so I don't want to do anything uneccesary!
:1zhelp:
Thanks

from what i believe, most VAG engines (equipped with belts) are interference engines.....
also, can i please remind members that the pm'ing of Vin numbers is not a wise thing to be doing, this information is dangerous if it falls into the wrong hands, whether supported by good intentions or not :beerchug:
