My car is on order for February delivery. I've specified advanced tech pack. Not sure if I even have the option to change my choice at this stage or when the cut off is for last minute changes. Anyway, I specified the park assist option as it sounded quite cool and in the overall scheme of things not a huge cost. Thing is, I was bored tonight and made the mistake of re-entering the Audi configurator. For near enough the same money I could have had parking system advanced. Have I chosen the wrong option? Does anyone have either of these systems? My thoughts were, i think, that I did like the idea of the car steering itself, however now looking again the camera and path looks pretty cool too. Help!!

I have the parking system advanced with rear view camera, but not the park assist. I have to say that the rear view camera is extremely helpful when maneuvering in tight spots, not just when parking, so I'd take that over the park assist any day (although you can specify both). You could also go for the multi camera top view version, which I expect would be even better.

I have to agree with jk88. The rear parking camera is excellent and well worth the money for both day and night use!

Highly recommend that option.

Bin the park assist. I last used it last year. Read up on how to use it again and tried a few weeks ago and it was so slow I didn't bother. Waste of time if you know how to park a car!

As above, Park Assist is slow man & tbh by time you've parked with this system, you could of been in/out for your weekly shopping :)

F/R sensors & cameras are best option.

Thanks for the advice. Looks like I have messed up. It was a last minute addition and I didn't check out parking at all as it seemed so comparatively cheap. I'm assuming that the camera option doesn't do the looking for a viable parking space.

I have both options.

The park assist is using side sensors. I have yet to use it, while the camera is used several times a day.

For the price of the park assist, take the electric boot on a saloon (if you want some geeky option that will impress), or keep the cash!

Just to be sure now before I ring to change my build, I'm considering opting for both systems now.... I can see the benefits of the rear camera and ideal parking line. However, I can't imagine reversing whilst looking at the MMI screen. Perhaps it's easier than I suspect. The thing about park assist that still appeals is it self steering and it indicating a suitable space. I've always been rubbish at estimating how big a space my cars require!

why not get some practice. find somewhere thats quiet, a field, carpark etc, some cones or a couple of friends with cars, and practice parking. learn where the front and rear of your car ends and you will soon be able to park like a demon.
