I'm going round in circles trying to get vcds lite to work. When I plug in on the car, there is no port, apparently I need an activation code, when I have the screen up for the code, it tells me I need ti test for a port first.I am relatively numb on computers, but maybe someone can direct me in easy to understand terms?Ta lads.

You need to configure a com port on your computer then you test the software. Plug in the cable then go to start, settings, control panel, system, hardware, device manager, ports. then assign port 2 or 3 to your vcds cable

To get the software to see the cable in the test phase you must
- connect the cable to the laptop USB port
- connect the cable to the obd port in the car
- have the ignition set to on (don't need to run the engine unless you are checking running parameters)

After doing the above run the test to find and use the cable

Also your cable needs to be vag compliant, not all obd cables will work
