I had my car serviced today and the garage told me that I had a problem that I had not noticed
My rear nearside door lock is only working intermittently. My garage told me that if left until its completely broken it's a sod to get the door open and the lock replaced and is better to fix it sooner rather than later. He quoted me £150 which I don't have ATM. So I have decided to do it myself as I have replaced locks before. I can get the part from the ******** for £100 but these are on Ebay I am just not sure on the part number or whether this is the right one, I have a feb 02 registered 1.9TDI sport
VW DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR REAR LEFT NSR PASSENGER SIDE BRAND NEW | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400433406618?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649)
It claims to be the right one ? I want to get this done ASAP and have sat free if the weather allows. If found this excellent guide
DIY Rear Door Disassembly and Lock Mechanism Repair (for Intermittent Lock) (http://www.passatworld.com/forums/61-b5-information-base/310280-diy-rear-door-disassembly-lock-mechanism-repair-intermittent-lock.html)
In the mean time is there any problem with unplugging the wiring loom shutting the door and pushing down the door lock so it stays locked and does not open with the rest of the doors. Or will it know it's not deadlocked and not activate the alarm ?
