Hi all,

I'm new to the forum but have been doing some research for a while. Fortunately it paid off as I was just planning on going to the main dealer and seeing what they could offer me, but instead I went through Orange wheels and got a quote of 20% off the S Line A6 with some extras. I took that to Stockport Audi and was honest with the salesman, I stated if he could match the orange wheels quote I would order from him.

Anyway the salesman went out of his way and even sourced a manual S Line for me to test drive, apparently they had just registered it as a demo 10 mins before I got there. Showed me the paperwork as he was still entering the details onto the system while I waited. He then took a copy of my licence and said I could take the car and just ensure I bring it back before they closed at 5pm, even helped me fit the little ones child seat in the rear and off we went for a drive around Manchester.

Once back he took all my details priced up the spec I wanted and said he would get back to me the next day. He gave me the exact same discount that orangwwheels had offered and somehow managed to bring the monthly payments around 5 pound less than orange wheels. So I've taken the plunge and ordered. The spec is below.

s line model
Electric front seats
Heated front seats
Folding electric mirrors
Lighting Package
Colour Dis
Glacier metallic white

A couple of options I'm not sure of so was wondering if anyone could advise, is it worth getting the Storage pack? And is the S Line suspension any worse than the sports suspension? Apparently its 30mm drop as opposed to 20mm on the sports.

Now all I have to do is wait till mid Feb early march for it to be delivered. Can't wait.

First time in an Audi. The Mrs had a Golf a few years back but I've always been a Japanese car fan because I've always found them ultra reliable. Hopefully this one will prove to be as reliable as all my previous cars.

If it's not too late to change, the other options I would suggest are:

Large fuel tank - I think it's about £150 for this...
The folding mirror - is it the ones with memory? Since you have electric seats, it good to get the memory function on the mirrors as well - but this is at extra cost
I think the storage pack is worth the money - for the extra nets etc you get in the car (maybe more useful in the Avant than saloon...)
If you travel a lot and like listening to music - then maybe the cost of a Bose sound system

Personally - I think the standard s-line suspension is a reasonable mix of firmness and ride softness - I would suspect that unless you really like going around corners, the extra stiffness that the sports suspension adds may make normal every day driving too stiff.... but I have not driven a car with the additional sports suspension...

I've got the storage pack in my car, and of the rear drinks holders, rear 12v sockets and luggage net that it includes we've only used the drinks holders. You could argue that £100 for a couple of drinks holders is quite pricey, but then they are quite handy to have to hold the kids' drinks bottles, so I'd probably order it again. After all, what's £100 on a car costing more than £30k?

Neil.

Hi all thanks for the replies.

Coddy85 I didn't really consider a used one although I had a look for one with the spec we wanted before I ordered. The Mrs was desperate to have electric and heated seats but I couldn't really find one with both. We were also Ltd to black or white as she doesn't like any of the other colours and considering she will be driving it most I thought I'd let her have her choice.

I'm not too concerned about having a larger fuel tank as I think 60 litres is plenty. The longest journey we do is around 600 miles and I think we could manage that In one tank.

I opted for the electric folding mirrors with memory as you can't order the electric seats without them, I didn't mind though as I wanted the electric folding function.

I'm still undecided whether I should go for the storage pack. I will have a think this week and let the dealer know.

Would anyone reccomend the Audi music interface over the standard aux / SD card setup? I want to get it right as I plan on keeping this car for a good few years and don't want to regret not getting the little thing as that make a difference.

That is funny as my only colour option was NOT black or white and that's all Audi have new without factory ordering. Was really pleased to find Estoril Blue for 15k less than new price!

The salesman did do a dsearch to see if he had anything with the electric seats and heated seats but couldnt find one. I wasn't to bothered though as I do like the fact that I will be the first owner of the car. :biglaugh:

I would get the Audi music interface - if you plan on keeping the car for a longer period, the additional functions, in my view, are worth it. I use it to connect to my ipod classic and have almost every album available to me all the time..

I like music in my car, so I would always have the AMI, but I tried the BOSE with the A6 and I wasn't overly impressed (I think this is a quite common view). I am hoping the B&O in my car on order will be worth the 'upgrade' over the standard sound systems I've had in A4s to date.

I'd always have the best screen / MMI - so a Technology Pack is always on the order for me.

The other options specified here are things I would select... but in a car like an A6 I would also definitely have the 'deluxe' AC (for improved aesthetics) and Advanced Key. I had the Storage Pack on my first A4 and, I, never used it, so learned my lesson for future orders.

No reason to look new at this price! Pretty much had all the options I wanted plus the exclusive paint was a bonus as I'd never pay that price.
