I have a Passat 2006 with parking brake problems. The right EPB 3CO998281B is locked, I want to buy a new EPB from the models of 2007, could be compatible if I put with his clippers ?Could recognize control unit if one EPB motor is from 2 different models?

I want to buy this new mode of EPB with the new caliper and to fix on right side of my passat.

Could work my new EPB +new calliper with the old EPB from left side?
or what EPB should I put instead?

Awaiting your reply.

Regards,
Dan

If you read the thread on EPB failure and Which magazine, you may find that these damn things are complicated to fit due to the technicalities involved. Maybe Crasher can advise as he seems to have a lot of hands on knowledge.

I would suggest you fit the correct TRW replacement units which are updated internally. It is possible the ECU may not take kindly to the later ones being used and the ECU's are extremely fragile and prone to burning out plus they are very expensive. I have a supply of these calipers coming in about ten days hopefully, I can't remember the price but I did post it on here a week or so back but it is much less than even the motor alone from VW for a full TRW unit.

As explained on my site. You cannot fit the later redesigned epb motor to an older system. That's why the plugs are different. If you want the later system you have to fit two motors/calipers and a new control unit. TRW calipers with motors are available quite cheap now. Use google.

Just replaced my NSR caliper for £165 inc Vat for caliper and fluid - took me just under 2 hours start to finish including fluid renewal of entire system.

Don't suppose you could point me in the direction of a "how to" for this job. I'm contemplating doing it myself but want to know what I'm letting myself in for and in particular if I need special tools (device for retracting/resetting caliper?)
many thanks

You need a device/system to wind off and wind on the caliper before and after. Just done 2 today.
