Hi all, I have just bought a 1999 B5, 1.9 TDI passat (Sold my 1998 A3 1.9tdi as it was not big enough for our family :().
The electric windows, alarm, interior lights and remote central locking don't work. I looked around and found out about the convenience control module wiring being the issue so went and had a look to find corroded wires. I spliced all the wires and everything seemed fine apart from remote locking so assumed it just needed recoding but I don't have a second key yet. I put everything back together and locked the car. When I went back to it to go out I unlocked the car as usual and started it, after about 30 seconds all the indicators started to flash and i was unable to stop it, eventually I found that if I disconnected the red and blue wire from the ccm the indicators would stop flashing but the interior lights, alarm and windows would stop working again.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be as I am lost now lol, I have tried reconnecting the wire again but have the same issue so have left it disconnected until I can solve the issue. I have checked all the door locks and they are fine.

Thanks in advance for the replies

Rob

Get a diagnostic scan the module might be water damaged

Welcome to VWAF

As Doc says, water can down them. Check plenum chambers and pollen filter housings for signs of damp. Also search "damp (or wet) carpets".

Thanks for the replies. I have tried a second known to be working module and I get the same issues. I have had a look for signs of damp or wet carpets and they all apear to be dry. The first thing I done was checked all the drain holes around the battery and pollen filter as I had an issue with the heaters in my a3 lol. I was thinking it could be the fact the key is not coded to the car? I dont have access to a diagnostics system, I have tried an OBD2 and it comes up with no faults.

The lights flashing might be an alarm fault. A scan is the way forward.

Thats what I was thinking cos they flash as if the alarm is going off but there is no horn so i am also thinking it may have been disconnected from the alarm by the previous owner because they couldn't figure out the problem lol

Ask A6_Chris if he will contact a member for you. Look at this map VWAF User Location Map - VCDS - Google Maps (https://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=209563024277134815192.0004c505be14b22419db e&msa=0&ll=56.231139,-2.779541&spn=3.493691,10.821533&iwloc=0004c505cfcb6158e0447) or Chris' signature

Alarm siren is a common failure.

Ah right, How would I go about checking it? is it connected to the horn or is it a separate siren?

I think the alarm horn is built-in . there are threads on here detailing removal and repair.
