Ok I'm thinking of purchasing a 2009 Golf 1.4 TSI S with DSG but I was just wondering how it compares to a standard auto?

Also What about hill starts/inclines only I’ve heard quite a few people complain that the transmission can disengage....allowing the car to roll back? Considering I live in the hills this could be a major problem.

Does does anyone know if the 1.4TSI comes with Hill start assist?

Lastly, How does the DSG respond in slow moving traffic? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I've driven a BMW E46 318 (ISE Step Auto) and that was quite slow to respond but never had any problems....

Hi
Owned a VW SE 1.4 (122) TSI DSG FROM NEW 09 , my first auto box................ i was immediately hooked.
The 7 speed box was so smooth, couldnt feel it changing gear at all.
No problems with hill starts or any other problems.... some people have talked of "hesitations" when moving off...... nothing of thr sort for me.
Was so pleased with the transmission that in Jan 2012 i bought new exactly the same combination of engine and DSG in a Skoda Octavia 1.4 TSI DSG and the smoothness of the box is almost identical as the Golf. Jan 2012 the Golf had done 15k miles The Octavia has now done 9k and going well.
Hope this helps ..... why not try a test drive ?
Cheers

I have a 2.0 TDI with a 6 speed DSg and I love it, so smooth and generally always in the right gear, you can select sport mode if you want to ruin your fuel economy and have some fun!
