Hi,

I was driving at the weekend & the yellow Emission Control System light came on on my dash and has stayed on ever since......

The nearest source I know of someone with VCDS is a 100 mile round trip away so I did a bit of research and it seems that a possible / likely cause of the Emission light coming on is a dodgy DPF Pressure Sensor which seem pretty prone to failing throughout the Audi VW range.

I took my sensor off the car today for a look and it is part number 07Z 906 051B which I believe has been superseded by 059 906 051A - I will call the local dealer tomorrow to organise a replacement.

My question is that once I fit the new sensor and this hopefully resolves the issue will the car sense everything is ok again when the engine is running and automatically extinguish the yellow Emission light on the dash or will I be forced to find someone with VCDS to reset the fault code in order to extinguish the yellow Emission light? (Assuming all other sensors & DPF itself is ok.)

Thanks!

Just to close this one off in case anyone is doing a search in the future the yellow Emission light on the dash does need the fault code reset in order to extinguish the light......

I ended up buying a new DPF pressure sensor from the local dealer (£60 retail now or £45 with discount) in a sealed bag that I could return if mine was ok and I used a local independent that the partsman knew who checked for the suspected fault code first which was the expected DPF Pressure Sensor - Implausible Signal. He then fitted the new sensor, erased the fault code, took the car for a test for £20.

Nice to have a warning light free dash again!

Did he adapt the sensor?

Interesting point.

No he didn't - The partsman in the dealership mentioned adapting the sensor and I also mentioned this to the independent who said he could adapt it but that the car would actually relearn the settings as I drive it.

As an additional point on the independent - He was the specialised electrician in the same local dealership for 8 years until he left to set up his own business a couple of years ago. There was certainly a lot of Snap On equipment about and I did not get a feeling at all that it was a 'cowboy' outfit.

My current thinking is that I would definitely use again..........
