Just been quoted £2000 for an audi service plan covering 3 services for a 2.0 tdi. That's almost £700 a service?? That can't be right can it.

I was offered the service pack when I bought mine, was just over £20 a month for the basic package which didn't include much so if it is one of the higher packages it could be....

.... I asked how often the service was needed, they said on average every 2 years, and all around me was posters for fixed price servicing at £159 - so I asked why I'd pay £240 a year, £480 for two years for the package when the service only costs £159 anyway ? They didn't ask again.

I would't have minded if it covered everything, but most of the things that were likely to be changed weren't covered, so I just didn't see the value.

Ifixed price servicing at £159

Thats for privately owned cars over 3 year old. With 2.0 engines or smaller. My dad has just had his first 19k service at Bradford and that cost £311

The 19k service is a major one anyway I think, so it's about £300 even with the offer for 3+ year old cars.

Gareth, is that a service plan with wear and tear elements, including tyres?

I hope you're all getting your oil changed every 10k!

Thats on his 13 Plate C7 and its only oil and filter. The fixed price major service is £309 for 3+

Hi Chris. The oil change at 10k is on the fixed annual service. If you have the long life service it's upto 19k miles or 2 years.

I'm paying around £70 per month for the full service and maintenance package including tyres. This is based on 4 years at 15,000 miles per annum.

I know that but its better getting it changed every 10k instead of the oil circulating for 20k. Your car you decide but longlife oil changes kills engines prematurely. Do a search for 'longlife' on here and you'll see what I mean.

I went for the 'middle' option when I bought mine, gives me servicing plus brake fluid change plus the aircon service on the 12 month service regime. As Chris says Longlife oil can kill the engine, but I guess if it's a company car you probably don't need to take that into consideration too much.

The oil is the same for fixed and LL, its just keeping it in there and the oil filter for 20k compared to 10k .. makes my skin crawl.

Just had a caller from the dealer. It seems that the £2000 quote this morning was a mistake, looking forward to the reprice when I pick the car up.

In terms if the long life service. Is it the length of time that causes the problem or the quality of oil?

I don't think the oil is the same, from my Skoda days.

My A6 is on variable servicing (although I asked for fixed). I'll bring it to the dealer next September to get the first service anyway.

Having done nearly 1k miles, the service interval has not changed into a shorter one yet despite daily, short commutes.

It's the same for cars which use 5W30 such as yours and all diesel Audis.

This is what Audi fill your car with (It's Castrol Edge with a VAG Group label) BARGAIN !! GENUINE VW, AUDI 5 LITRE QUANTUM LONG LIFE 3 ENGINE OIL 5W-30 507 00 | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BARGAIN-GENUINE-VW-AUDI-5-LITRE-QUANTUM-LONG-LIFE-3-ENGINE-OIL-5W-30-507-00-/290995306515?pt=UK_Vehicle_Oils_Lubricants_Fluids&hash=item43c0ac0013) and is for fixed and LL.

OK, thank you. It might be different for petrol engines then. For the Skoda FSI engine, I was told (by Skoda dealer) the long life oil was about £70 more than the normal one.
